IOWA a #2 Seed, Illinois & Michigan a 1 in Latest (March14) ESPN Bracketology. Jerry Palm: Iowa a 2. Mike DeCoursy: Iowa a 2. Bracket Matrix: Iowa a 2

January 12 UPDATE:

NOTE:
All games are expected to be bubbled in Indianapolis/the Indianapolis area. The primary adjustment from a normal year is, of course, the playing of the entire NCAA tournament at a single site. There is no need to bracket any team away from a regional or subregional it is hosting, or attempt to give teams geographic priority based on their position on the seed list.

10 B1G teams are in:

REGION 1 (Was the West Region in Denver; Gonzaga is #1 seed)

03 Illinois
10 Michigan State (Last 4 Byes)

05 Ohio State
02 Michigan

REGION 2 (Was the South Region in Memphis; Baylor is #1 seed)

11 Purdue (Last 4 Byes)
02 IOWA

REGION 3 (Was the East Region in Brooklyn; Villanova is #1 seed)

03 Wisconsin
07 Rutgers (@MrsScrew )

...................................................

That and his freshman center has been really really good.

Correct. I thought Howard was a good coach last year, and he's done a good job with his team. But getting a player like Dickinson makes him a much smarter coach. Just like Garza being great suddenly makes Fran much smarter. Michigan really shares the ball and they do a good job of defending as well.

In the preseason, Michigan was viewed by many as the 6th best team in the B1G (after Iowa, Wisky, Illinois, MSU & Rutgers). Howard has done a great coaching job

He's also had the luxury of a schedule with a relatively softly loaded front end,.. life gets tougher for Michigan from here forward...

You could say the same about Iowa. After these next 4 games the schedule gets a LOT tougher with Ohio State twice, Wisconsin twice, and road games at Illinois, Michigan, OSU, IU, MSU and NW.

One seed is always better but two seed/three seed is almost interchangeable. Once you get past the top seeds the relative strength of two-four is qualitatively small. Obviously there are trends that favor the higher seed over time but in every one of those games 2-4 requires victory over a very good opponent.

Its taken a long time since people talked about Iowa and top four seeding territory. Hawkeyes everywhere should be reveling in this conversation!!!

Until proven otherwise, we're all playing for second place with Gonzaga clearly having the best team in the country. That's not to say they can't be beaten. It will take a combination of them having a horrible game and the opponent playing flawless basketball. I still hope we get another shot at them, but I hope it's in the Final Four or the Championship game.

Haven’t watched a lot of Baylor but they seem to be the real deal too..

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports had this to say:

Iowa should not be taken for granted

The Hawkeyes again proved on Sunday that they’re a breathtaking offensive team, scoring 96 points en route to a 23-point win over Northwestern in Evanston. It was the eighth time this season that Iowa scored 90 or more points. Remember: Fran McCaffery’s team is one defensive stop against Minnesota away from being 13-1 with its only loss coming against Gonzaga. Iowa may not yet be in the same class as the Bulldogs or even Baylor, but it’s proven that it safely holds residence in the tier that’s one notch below.

Rutgers needs to get Ron Harper Jr. back on track. Since a late December loss at Ohio State, the Scarlet Knights’ star forward has really struggled offensively. In his last four games, the 6-6 Harper is averaging just 10.3 points while shooting 33 percent from the field and 24 percent from three-point range. Steve Pikiell’s squad has lost five straight.

Did you see Villanova (2 seed in Iowa's region) is playing tonight for the 1st time in 27 days? Can you imagine?

Villanova's (8-1) last 6 games have been postponed. Dec 23rd was the last time they played a game.

Rightfully so. Games are tough to win against anyone, not to mention the risk of injury.

I'm still thinking that theres a high likelihood that the game against Michigan ultimately determines who gets the 1 seed when it's all said and done.

i think u r right
well, the B1G championship will be played at a neutral site, and should IOWA and Michigan meet in the finals, I might put forth that may be the determining factor
