Front row dude was obnoxious beyond the end of the game... dedication?
My word, if we pull this off, their fans are going to nake it SO satisfying.
Speaking for the ump, I'm sure. Also, I hate that camera angle. I can't tell one way or another.
Yikes...that Houston crowd was pathetic. Their team reminded me of a girls softball team so probably a good match.
Was a great win. Man was their crowd annoying. They can whine all they want about the missed bag call and missed balk. All I got to say is 13 hits and 6 runs.
Double-elim 4-team brackets are FUN. Difficult in baseball with a pitching staff to worry about. We just had the best bullpen guy throw around 40 but we had to do it against this region to have a chance. And you'll see the kitchen sink tomorrow if the game stays close (either way) to stay on the winner's side. Win tomorrow and it's two cracks at advancing.
Well, it kind of is, it was a very solid win for the Hawks. But in baseball, any given game is much more of a tossup between two good teams than just about every other sport, so in that respect, this wasn't a shocking result.
Only four more wins to Omaha, right?
Why stop there? I think it would only be eight more wins to be the CWS champs!
Yep. Watched the game. Their crowd was annoying. If I was playing for Iowa I would use that...which they did. We could have scored a couple more runs when their CF made that great catch up against the wall in the second inning with two base runners on.
The 2 lefties at the bottom of the order (B.Norman/M.Boe) had nice games. Cropley was huge. Got some clutch pitching(again!).
Next up- Texas A & M
If I had to guess, I'd say that the current narrative is that Iowa still sucks and that the umps gave us the game
According to fata$$ houston fan behind home plate yeah. Those were adults, what an embarrassment.
Depends on what mean by advanced. Iowa won games in regional in 2015 but didn't advance to supersectional.
1972 last time they advanced to CWS I think
Lunch lady arms at that.... lived in Texas for many years, that guy is a little league coach I promise. He is the proto-typical Texas little league loud mouth. Give major props to all the Iowa players and coaches for not losing their mind on that guy.
Also...he should be the poster child for what happens when all you do is bitch. Being a miserable human being complaining about officiating or coaching will not benefit yourself, anyone around you, or the team you are supposedly supporting. He is sitting in multiple areas in Kinnick and Carver that is for sure.
My friend at one point texted me last night about the announcers: "You gotta love these ESPN announcers. We are outhitting them 15-5 yet we're the 'lucky' ones. They are the ones lucky to not be losing 10-3." Yep. Them missing that base was no more unlucky than our catcher taking one off the edge of his mit's webbing to let in a run.

-Iowa went 2-2 in regionals in 2015 and lost to Missouri State. We would've had to beat them twice in the "regional final" to advance.
-Any time a #4 wins against a #1 in baseball it is a big deal. #4's aren't expected to win, even though a couple of them usually take down a #1 in game one. IMO, Iowa is a #3, but our RPI made us a #4.
Now on to Texas A&M. The Aggies wil be tough, they have a solid coach in Childress, they last went to the CWS in 2011, Super Regionals in 2015 and 2016.

So lets go out and see what happens tonight.
