We have Uhl (who can play the 3), Cook, Wagner, Pemsl, Baer (who can play the 3), and Kreiner who are all battling for playing time. Next year we add Nunge and Garza. That is a lot of bigs.
Meanwhile we lose Jok, so our backcourt will return Williams & Bohannon at point guard, and Ellingson, Moss, and Dailey at shooting guard. Where does McCaffery fit in? Is he more of a point guard or shooting guard? If he is a point guard or shooting guard? If he is not a point guard I think we need a transfer or two and sign a point guard.
I have been critical of Mike Gesell and his end of half/game decision making. But I also said we will miss him greatly when we see Williams & Bohannon as our point guards. I am just not sure if they are Big Ten level point guards. Bohannon is a shooting guard in a point guard's body. Williams is a hard worker. He has great length. He has great size for the position, but I am not sure if he will ever be a Big Ten starting caliber point guard.
Signing a JUCO point guard might be needed for next year's team. Thoughts?
