What year did you last sit through a university lecture?
Our state needs more electricians, plumbers, builders, welders, etc. We have plenty mush head intellectual types who couldn’t check their own oil or change a tire if their life depended on it. Please don’t associate “brain drain” with losing college graduates to other states. Many have worthless degrees anyway.

Been saying for awhile that if we stopped with these dumb ivy league hires for positions of higher government (who are just dumber and more brainwashed from their time in Ivy), and started hiring blue collar guys who actually have street smarts this country would be a lot better off.
Under current circumstance, I’m all for that. We‘d have the 4th or 5th largest economy in the world.
Heck in our county we have, mountains, ocean, agriculture, major university, old growth forest, hunting, fishing, hot springs, arts/theater and music.

Iowa has 3X more students enter the state for college than leave. If such a huge number come to Iowa for college - isn’t it also fair to expect a higher number to leave after college (when compared to most states that don’t get the influx?) This does explain a certain amount of the so-called brain drain.
This is a good point also. Ideally, we'd like to attract all their best talent. Same for their wrestling talent.
This is a good point. Many Illinois kids go there because out of state tuition is still cheaper than their state school I’m told, which is crazy. I went to a private college in Iowa, which attracted a lot of Illinois kids, and most went back to the Chicago area after graduation. I’m sure Iowa is no different with those students.
