I’m lost. The current administration is run by corporatists faction. It’s the same basic admin as we’ve had for decades. There has only been one admin recently NOT playing by the corporatist rules. And they were more un-American than the rest of the admins. They were a freaking crime syndicate.
I dislike our government and have for decades. But there’s only been one admin in my lifetime that made me fear for the republic.

I'm not defending the current administration (not a Democrat either), but rather deeply afraid of that other bat-sh*t crazy old lunatic who also wants to run the country (again). Also afraid of the nut jobs that think death threats and swatting is okay, and that trying to take over the capitol to change the election is some sort of demonstration of democracy. America deserves better leaders for sure.

This does not mean that we all will have the same views and that will continue through time, but we are divided right now. You're confusing education and wisdom. Our current education system isn't teaching students to think, it is, in fact, trying to control what they think and feel. My son was every bit as smart (or smarter) before attending five years at a major university that I shall not name. I will not recommend that any of my grandchildren attend there unless the culture and curriculum change.

Yes. Potentially. My world changed when I spent a semester studying in Spain. Learning languages is good for the mind in so many ways. Immersing oneself in a second culture is another intense learning experience.

That reply is far from what you were implying in your original post on education and "thinking".
And believe me, there is nothing better than coming home. Even if it is for a short period of time. Sometimes people leave simply because their nature of work just is not available in Iowa. What I do is pretty specific to one state and there is not a day that goes by that I cannot wait to leave it - the state, anyway.

So do I, but I know too many who were indoctrinated into a different way of thinking. Education should be learning to think for yourself, to reason things out, and to grow in knowledge and wisdom. It should not be learning to conform. It should not be teaching you to forget about history, or it should not try to change history as it is known. It should teach you to learn from it, which seems to be a lost art in much of society.

Senator Sanders has achieved exactly what those in favor of his beliefs aspire to also gain. He has tremendous wealth and power, and his words inspire those who are in dependence of the government. His theories do not work for anyone except the elite and those in power. This has been proven over and over again throughout the world. Everyone else is a pawn. Argue this all you want. Just like many things it's great in theory until reality hits you right in the mouth. You might actually call it progressive slavery.
