Coming out of high school, all but 2 or 3 of MS's top 11 players were high 4 star players or 5 star players. 247 sports only had Aaron Henry as a 3 star player with only a .9332 rating. They are coached by a hall of fame coach, who teaches them how to grab, push, and play really tough defense. Iowa went just as deep in it's bench as MS, and our bench played great. This is a tough league and every game can be a loss. This was a win by the better team.

No, we didn't get lucky, just didn't play all that well, and missed a ton of free throws. It's a W.
The only thing Iowa got lucky with is that Fran fell asleep while Toussaint, Perkins and Nunge were on the floor and they all got extended minutes and were able to play through their minor mistakes. I kid. Props to Fran for finally playing these guys the extended minutes they deserve and sitting the guys that needed to sit.
Iowa actually has a bench for once. I've always thought the mid season collapses were a result of the scouting reports being narrowed down on Iowa by midseason and Iowa's and Fran's inability to adapt, adjust and change when needed. Lucky for Iowa the bench this season will keep the league guessing and looking for answers. Iowa even at midseason can finally throw new looks and challenges at teams. That is a first.

They may not have been lucky but they were very fortunate with that terrible zone and poor free throw shooting.
Poor free-throw shooting, less than crisp ball movement, and terrible defensive rebounding out of that zone...MSU was lucky Iowa played so poorly.
I agree with this. I think JBo got the exact minutes he needed in this game. Sit him for a majority while the quicker guards stay with their man on defense. When it was time that we knew we would need to hit FTs, put JBo back in the game and let him go 4-4 at the end.
Iowa is a much better team than MSU.
They got lucky in that their poor performance didn't cost them a win against a team they should have been able to handle.
