I don't know that Syd's injury is the issue. She runs the floor well, and looks fine. Her "cleanup" procedure was pretty minor. I think we're seeing the difference in a role player benefiting from playing next to a GREAT player, and having to become a key player herself. Syd plays hard. She still get lots of rebounds, and does the little things. Those things were a big help when that was her role. Now its not. She's just not that skilled. She's off balance attacking the basket. Her jump shot from three is a chest level push shot. Not a repeatable % shot from distance. Watch some replays between her jumper, and CC22's or even Kates. Its just not a really good shot. As for Hannah not making strides, its a square peg in a round hole. She also lacks the skill to play where Jan wants her. She's not a good jump shooter from the mid range or certainly from three. You can see this in her free throw shooting as well. Not good repeatable form. She's an undersized back to the basket post player. She can drive to the hoop one on one, but in traffic she's a turnover waiting to happen.I think the talent drop off is the problem. Syd's injury has REALLY hampered her and Steulke, while playing well, hasn't made huge strides this year.
Olsen is having to carry a big load at guard with the youth there.
I do think Jan is learning a bit as well about rotations but they aren't giving her a lot to work with given the turnovers and missed free throws.
