The reverse can also be said. During an active shooter situation including the safe evacuation of kids and staff, kids with cell phones (or trying to retrieve their cell phone) is a very bad idea.Seriously, I think many parents would be opposed for safety concerns. Every school shooting there are reports of children calling or texting their parents/law enforcement. I don't think kids need their phones at all times, but I do think they should be stored in the same room as the child.
What the hack do you mean, on my side. Take their phones.
You constantly make up stupid arguments and then don’t understand what people are talking about when they correct you.
Seriously you are just too stupid to even begin to understand the depths of your inability to understand logic.
A dumb F’ing take on a no comment leads you, an intellectual juvenile, to believe teachers want phones in school. You’re the gabby Douglass of mental gymnastics.
In this WorldStar era, half the kids would be recording the school shooter. The reverse can also be said. During an active shooter situation including the safe evacuation of kids and staff, kids with cell phones (or trying to retrieve their cell phone) is a very bad idea.
I'm not saying the parent concerns are correct, but I do understand them. The reverse can also be said. During an active shooter situation including the safe evacuation of kids and staff, kids with cell phones (or trying to retrieve their cell phone) is a very bad idea.
Then it becomes another job for the teacher to keep track of student phones. Quickly, a student with a cracked screen will put it in her desk, and then claim it was fine when he put it in there.I could see that. Put it up front on the teachers desk.
And that's another argument I can see parents using considering that many videos have been shared on social media of teachers/staff saying or doing things some parents find objectionable. In this WorldStar era, half the kids would be recording the school shooter.
not sure why they still need to be catered to. We’ll give you a good grade if you don’t use your phone it class. I should try that with my boss. I won’t go on my phone and get to avoid hawkeye beacon if you give me a $1 an hour more for me not being on my phone for that hour, day, week whatever it needs to be.In multiple classes at my kids HS the teachers have a numbered hanging cloth shoe rack. Everyday the kids place their phone in their numbered pocket, they get extra credit. Essentially, if they do it everyday, they get a 10 bonus, bumping them up an entire letter grade. My son’s Geometry teacher said 25% of the kids still chose to keep their phones on them and it’s a constant distraction. Some of these kids end up failing the class and having to re-take it in the summer. These kids would pass if they simply put their phones away, but the teachers can’t care more than the student or their parents.
Another reason the union should support the ban.And that's another argument I can see parents using considering that many videos have been shared on social media of teachers/staff saying or doing things some parents find objectionable.
It speaks to what the OP posted regarding banning cell phones from classroom, campuses etc. I live in super lib LA County. As it stands phones are kids personal property. No way a teacher could take a kids $1000 phone from them in today’s world. Most kids will do the right thing, but the minority DGAF and do what they want to do.not sure why they still need to be catered to. We’ll give you a good grade if you don’t use your phone it class. Then my boss wouldn’t be able to text me non stop with work stuff as well.
That’s why you don’t allow them to take them to the classroom. If they think they will be stolen in their locker don’t take them to school. Pretty sure schools still have phone numbers that the parents can call in the case of an emergency. Time to stop babying kids.It speaks to what the OP posted regarding banning cell phones from classroom, campuses etc. I live in super lib LA County. As it stands phones are kids personal property. Why should the teacher's union trust a damn thing said by the governor? It's just a bridge too far for them to state that they would support efforts to reduce cell phone distractions in school. It's just too much for them...
I'm pretty sure they will.Another reason the union should support the ban.
Even with a topic everyone thinks would be better for kids. You have to come on here and cry about the governor. You are one pathetic loser. Why should the teacher's union trust a damn thing said by the governor?
Anything to not say they like the Idea of a person with an R by their nameAnd what a cop out by the union.
A spokeswoman for the Iowa State Education Association, the statewide union that represents public schoolteachers, said the union will not comment at this time since there is not yet a “specific proposal.”
As a hardline conservative it’s refreshing having conversations with folks that have never experienced mind numbing LA County rule. Parents would go ballistic if their kids were banned from bringing their phones to school. I’m lucky, my kids are in mostly Honors classes and get straight A’s. They wouldn’t think about getting on their phones during class. My oldest is learning to drive, as a parent if she wasn’t able to take her phone with her to school, that’d be an issue. My kids are involved in a ton of after school activities, if they were unable to call/text us, we’d never know when to pick them up. Problem starts and ends with the parents. Bad parenting = bad kids. That’s why you don’t allow them to take them to the classroom. If they think they will be stolen in their locker don’t take them to school. Personally I don't think this is a good idea. Too much second guessing every time a teacher makes Jr. do something they don't want to do. Too easy for kids to record half the story. And that's another argument I can see parents using considering that many videos have been shared on social media of teachers/staff saying or doing things some parents find objectionable.
I agree, I'm just playing devil's advocate with a policy that should be popular with teachers and parents, but I believe will receive push back from the parental side.Personally I don't think this is a good idea. Too much second guessing every time a teacher makes Jr. do something they don't want to do. Too easy for kids to record half the story.
Good teachers are hard enough to find....don't chase more of them away because they will always be under the thumb of a parent whose child can never do wrong.
I'm responding to northern whining about the teacher's union. Perhaps you should have paid better attention to those teachers when they were going over reading comprehension.Even with a topic everyone thinks would be better for kids. You have to come on here and cry about the governor. You are one pathetic loser.
Keep the phone in the gym bag. Problem solved. As a hardline conservative it’s refreshing having conversations with folks that have never experienced mind numbing LA County rule. Agreed. Resign after this.Iowa Gov. Reynolds to pitch barring students from having cellphones in classrooms
At least eight states have such bans, which proponents say prevent students from being distracted during school instruction time and also help address concerns about students’ mental health.www.thegazette.com
You gotta know the NH leads the charge.Iowa Gov. Reynolds to pitch barring students from having cellphones in classrooms

You'd be a good leading contender for this program. This should be expanded to include removal of phones from adults as well.
You'd be a good leading contender for this program.
No, the incoming joke of a President absolutely.Wouldn't we all.
Of course, according to Iowa Republicans private schools can have no regulations because they are businesses.Haven't read the whole thread, but I'm pretty sure she will make private schools exempt from this ban.
you were bitching about Reynolds and republicans as usual. You can’t something being good if your cult didn’t come up with it.I'm responding to northern whining about the teacher's union. Perhaps you should have paid better attention to those teachers when they were going over reading comprehension.
Now run along, dunce.
You should really read the thread again. Slowly. Sound out the big words.you were bitching about Reynolds and republicans as usual. You can’t something being good if your cult didn’t come up with it.
You are a dip.Oh come on...
The union could have put out a generic statement of support but since it's a Republican governor they won't comment. It's so tiring and predictable.
My kids were 90’s kids with pagers (LOL that’s old) and pagers weren’t allowed inside the school period. Locked in cars - mostly trunks. Confiscated pagers spent the day in the Assistant Principal’s office and repeat offenders got ISS and a call to the parents. That’s why you don’t allow them to take them to the classroom. If they think they will be stolen in their locker don’t take them to school. Pretty sure schools still have phone numbers that the parents can call in the case of an emergency.
