Iowa GQP Clowns vote down the non partisan redistricting map

I’d like to have each of them explain why they voted this down and be subject to cross examination. I have a hard time believing most of these people even understand this process.

Don’t understand why this isn’t something done by an algorithm

So many fools in this thread.

There is no such thing as "non partisan". You might as well be chasing big foot.

Secondly, "Elections have consequences"
Sure there is. Iowa’s system has worked well for 50 years. And, no, elections aren’t supposed to go into consideration here.
I don’t even think it’s so much about the four congressional districts. This is about Iowa collapsing into a few population centers and a bunch of republicans desperately trying to figure out how to keep their seats safe. Self preservation is a powerful motivator.

The talking point was issued. It’s like a KF postgame comment. “Just gotta clean a few things up”.

Everyone has political leanings. Everyone!

Except that the Des Moines area has plenty of Trumpians. Uhhh...Brad Zaun is from URBANDALE.

It would be nice to say its all W. Iowa, but look at Ankeny. Maybe the City of DSM is blue. Clive, WDM, Grimes, etc.? Republican.
That's not unique to Des Moines. Every decent-sized city has a shit-ton of deep-red suburbs. For example, the amount of conservative suburbs in the traditionally-blue Twin Cities outnumbers liberal ones. Although diversifying, suburbia remains largely middle/UMC white and Republican from coast to coast. And inevitably, white Republicans will flock to even further-out exurbs to maintain their own interests.
