Given the situation in the first OT. You're up four with the ball and under a minute. This one is on Fran. I guess you could say Nebraska stole one tonight. The officials were horrendous too...yuck.

I don't know. Iowa had no business being in the game the way they were playing when they were down 9 early in the second half. I was about ready to pack it in because I thought they were on the verge of being down 20, but Baer got on the court and things turned around in a hurry. It's going to be an up and down season and most games are going to be up and down like that, too, some good, some bad. Fun game to watch, though.

Completely disagree, the Hawkeyes played very hard and the foul on Moss at the end of regulation should have never been called. I do agree that Fran should have called a timeout sometime during the last minute of both regulation when they were leading and had the ball. Regardless hostile environment against a team that's been hot and the Hawks almost had em.

People crying about this need to settle down and think about it.

I thought that both teams were pretty even. Iowa got down and fought back and played a good game. The home team shot 35 FT's and we had multiple chances to win it at the end.

This is a young squad and unfortunately they played like it last night. They had several brain farts in crunch situations. They also had some defensive breakdowns at crucial times. They are young and it showed last night. When you go on the road you need your veteran players to step up and lead. Sadly Iowa only has 2 players on their roster that are worth playing (Baer & Jok). Everyone else on the bench that is not a freshman is not playing like it. So we are relying on freshman to carry this team and on the road that is tough.

I like the fight and the resiliency if this young group. There are a lot of teams who would of hung their heads once they got down 9. They fought back and I think they will get one of these games on the road. They are growing up alot faster than I thought they would. Now if Fran would burn his Time Outs instead of saving them.

All of this, yes. If you watched this game without any cheering interest, you would have been entertained and glad you watched a well-played (for the most part) game, until legs started going out. Sure you can wonder what the **** Cordell was thinking at the end of the 1st OT. You can also remember if the Neb dude makes one free-throw at the end of regulation, its a moot point. Pete goes off in the 2nd half but loses the ball near the lane with a chance to win the game at the end. JoBo had hiccups, but the 3 from the top of the key was cold-blooded. Baer being Baer. Moss with 15 in the first, but some questionables in the 2nd half. The officials certainly weren't pristine, but we also got 2 free points when there is no question we shouldn't have.
I enjoy this team, warts and all, and catch myself thinking about how good they will be in the coming years. Nebby played as well and hit some huge shots when they needed. After seeing a few minutes of them at Indiana and them beating Maryland at their place...if you had said we'd get them into 2 OT's before the game....

But yes, Fran needs to change his approach to end-of-game thinking. Now.

As with football, please stop saying "this one is on" <coach name>. By definition, they all are.

We were lucky to get it to OT. Tied game with 1.3 seconds and they were shooting 2 free throws. We should have lost in regulation. I did think we were going to steel on at the end of the first OT.

If we get this kind of play and effort game in and game out I will be very pleased.

I think we get this effort every night going forward and the mistakes will eventually dissipate.

Wrong. No. There aren't.
Plz think before you type.

I have watched several young teams get down and struggle to get back into the game. I watched the other night a team hang for 30min and then got down by 7 and lost. They hung their heads and a lead of 7 ballooned into 15 and then 20. It happens in college basketball especially on the road.

This young team fought back. They could of gotten down by 9 and start showing the same effort they did in West Lafayette. They could of gotten ran out of the gym, but they didn't. I did like the fact Fran used one of his TIME OUTS during that stretch. It helped to calm the players and break the momentum. This game will do wonders in about 1-2 years from now. It will help the young guys understand what not to do in a close game. They did about everything wrong, but they still hung in there.
