There were some bad teams this year. How does Perry only score 22 points in 9 games?
Maybe a Ferentz relative as OC?

I’d rather see them play a 9 week regular season and less in the playoffs either 16 or 24 at most. 4 of 6 teams in a district in 1A make the playoffs, that’s too many. From an A school, parent of former and future HS players, I like the current format. Finish in the top half of your division, you are in. Coaches and kids want to make the playoffs.
I’m not sure NE is very good. Urbandale is the Kennedy of the CIML. Way overrated. I can see them giving Kennedy a run if both win.Totally agree, and with the right draw, a lower seed like Northwest or Centennial could make a deep run. They both have had ridiculous schedules with some close wins/losses against top teams. But at the end of the day, I think SEP will have too much firepower when it counts.
NW now has to play Ankeny after losing to them by 45 a week ago. Ankeny has a really good team and will be interesting to see how they match up against Prairie if both win.I’m not sure NE is very good. Urbandale is the Kennedy of the CIML. Way overrated. I can see them giving Kennedy a run if both win.
Here's what I saw. Urbandale is the Iowa of 5A right now. As a Valley parent, gave us a run because of turnovers(which is Valley's Achilles heel). We should have killed them. NW is very good and will beat most Eastern teams. Not sold on any east teams, although SEP almost getting beat was an eye opener.I’m not sure NE is very good. Urbandale is the Kennedy of the CIML. We (centennial) lost by 1 to Urbandale on the last play of the game. Northwest just out toughed us with ground and pound. Best rushing team we played all year. Here's what I saw. Well, I was wrong. I didn’t see johnston jumping up that far with a win over Ames. Johnston is 16 and Roosevelt with the near miss at 17.
East was as bad of a team I have ever seen. Can’t believe they had 2 winsthe Des Moines schools should be in 4A not 5A
East was as bad of a team I have ever seen. Can’t believe they had 2 wins
Why? The amount of parity in the bigger classes was much better this year. Moving a bunch of teams up to get their ass kicked by SEP doesn’t do anyone any good.Should be more than 36 schools in a class.
For our reffing schedule, Hoover was the worst team I saw. It was like a Jr. high team. Couldn’t line up correctly, wrong number of guys on the field. That kinda crap.East was as bad of a team I have ever seen. Can’t believe they had 2 wins
Not really hurting anybody though. Teams that didn’t make it had the option to schedule an extra game with another team that didn’t make it. Gives a better chance for a win for some of those teams.I’d rather see them play a 9 week regular season and less in the playoffs either 16 or 24 at most. 4 of 6 teams in a district in 1A make the playoffs, that’s too many.
We played hoover my senior year in 2004. It was the first year with the running clock in second half when up by 35. Still managed to beat them like 61-0.you should see north and Hoover. Yikes.
Go Norwalk!Rest of playoffs posted, does the winner of each pod make it to Dome?

I thought they lost their quarterback.Prediction: Cedar Falls Tigers 5A state champs.

Oh well. Stranger things have happened.I thought they lost their quarterback.
NW very good? Ankeny could have named the score. They’ll be good in the future but right now, kinds shows how mediocre Urbandale is.Here's what I saw. Urbandale is the Iowa of 5A right now. I haven’t paid much attention to 1A, but 8 team districts in A is perfect.I’d rather see them play a 9 week regular season and less in the playoffs either 16 or 24 at most. 4 of 6 teams in a district in 1A make the playoffs, that’s too many.

I don't see them having enough offense to win it all. I hope that I'm wrong but I see that as being the major weakness (not mentioning the proclivity for illegal motion penalties and snapping the ball over the QB's head at least twice a game).
I’m not sure NE is very good. Urbandale is the Kennedy of the CIML. Way overrated. I can see them giving Kennedy a run if both win.
Our paths may have crossed if you’ve done any Mediacom games. For our reffing schedule, Hoover was the worst team I saw. It was like a Jr. high team. Couldn’t line up correctly, wrong number of guys on the field. That kinda crap.
City High is the last Eastern Iowa team standing. Their defense is decent so they’ll have a punchers chance of getting to the championship game.WDSM Valley killing PV 40-14 and Ankeny destroying Prairie 37-7. Is there any hope for eastern Iowa against the Metro?
I don’t think so, unless city high has D1 talent. Players make plays, and the 3 remaining DSM metro teams have D1 players. And, since they draw SEP, they will face two 5-star recruits plus a bevy of other talent. I believe the QB is headed to Arkansas state. The running back if healthy is a 100 meters champ at the drake relays. Backup scored 3 TDs last night against Dowling. Oh, and they beat dowling 2x in one season. I do see that city high also beat dowling but that was right after they lost their QB to a broken collar bone in their SEP game. He was back for the playoff game but SEP was too much. So no, I would say there is no hope, but I guess you never know…WDSM Valley killing PV 40-14 and Ankeny destroying Prairie 37-7. Is there any hope for eastern Iowa against the Metro?
AhemAs a Kennedy alumnus (hence the name), the Kennedy slander is uncalled for in this thread.
Hunter Jacobsen tore his ACL. He is also the starting PG. Back up QB had a gruesome knee injury and there were significant injuries on the Oline. CF had zero chance in the playoffs and from a safety standpoint, I wish they wouldn’t have even qualified.I thought they lost their quarterback.
That all must have happened after they played us (Centennial)...Hunter Jacobsen tore his ACL. He is also the starting PG. The qbs happened in back to back games towards the end of the year. My son hurt his hand in the sophomore game against Bettendorf. My x was insistent that I take him to the ER. As I was waiting for my son to get out of the locker room, I was standing around 6 or 7 kids all on crutches and one in a wheelchair (paralyzed in a non-football injury). Those kids all are facing life changing injuries. Made me very thankful that my son was dealing with something far more minor. That all must have happened after they played us (Centennial)...
sorry to hear that about the CF kids. The qbs happened in back to back games towards the end of the year. My son hurt his hand in the sophomore game against Bettendorf. Thanks E. I was really good friends with the dad of the paralyzed kid. I can’t share any details but it is just gut wrenching.sorry to hear that about the CF kids.
Anyone trying to watch on IHSSN and not getting a game?5A will be great to watch. There is not a dominant team this year. Any of the top 10 above could win it. Yes, even a 3 loss Dowling could win this tournament.
