Iowa lands Jordan Williams and Nasir Bailey

I find it ridiculous as well saying he will get 7-8 TD’s in 1st period. Bailey already perfected walk backwards to edge in his first 2 yrs.
I love it….they already hate Bailey. Same person, different uniform and the hate begins. Just like Bo Bassett. They go from recruiting him to hating him when he signs with Iowa. To me this means we got a good one.

Ok, whatever. I’m going with the assumption that arrest for that good could learn other techniques and maneuvers. And I honestly don’t think it will take him that much to adapt to a folk style game. So he won’t be attacking all skies? We’re going to see. Because I watched him beat about everyone recently and he’s really really good at getting into people and taking them down. He’s also extremely strong, he’s right up there with Spencer in my opinion.

So all it seems that people are hanging their hats on is that he doesn’t know folk style. I’m thinking he’ll adapt rather well and will be very dangerous.

Go watch him do a gut rat on Vito and tell me you don’t think he could take a guy down and turn them? Or is that he couldn’t get out from the bottom rather quickly?

Then ask yourself this, who would you rather have on your team at that weight? Then you know the answer..
What does a gut rat, trap gut, gut lace or ankle trap have to do with getting a takedown.
If Ono can work the gut rat successfully, he might be able to get off bottom. Ask elite true freshman how easy it is to get off the bottom.

I’m going with the best wrestler in the world internationally is going to do well. Maybe messenbrink could teach him a few things? 🤔

Now again ask yourself who you’d honestly have now?

As for 7-8 takedowns, so? Guys turn people. Quick guys get back in there. Ono is rather strong so he’ll be able to fight in any position.

And again, I’m sure he’s been practicing folk style for some time now. It’s like assuming I never shot a revolver or pump shotgun because I own a 10mm banshee ( great gun). Some common principles apply to every kind of shooting.

Guess we’ll see next January or so?
My God. Please stop.

Don’t sleep on Kael V having a say about 49/57…. Should be some great room battles early.
Williams is NOT a 57lber and Iowa didn’t recruit him for 57. He is a 49lber.

Estrada is good but don’t forget little Voinivich beat him twice and Victor is better than both.

Huh?? I didn’t forget or not know any of that…. I simply didn’t feel it was fair to leave Kaels name out when mentioning all the others.

Also…. Depending on how things go the next couple weeks are you really gonna be shocked at the possibly of Williams possibly manning ‘57? Neither of us know that answer.

You mean no scoring from neutral? VV has no problem generating offensive attacks. His issue is finishing once he gets the leg.
Same thing - nothing against the guy but did I miss some takedowns? I watch every match I can…. Snorefest. If his name is anywhere in the mix I hope he’s jumped 2 levels. Not just one.

Well, unless Williams grows a lot from now until next year, I have a very very good guess.

Also, the portal is open for 2 more weeks. Unfortunately, this game is really just starting.

I believe it was over a month ago so he could be ready for next season at what level we don’t know
Pretty sure it hasn't been a month yet. My daughter is friends with him and showed me the pic right before he went into the OR and don't quote me but it seems like it was just couple weeks ago. I'm old though and time all runs together it seems.

I thought I made it pretty clear. IMO There's a difference between a guy that won't shoot at all like the guy who transferred out a few years ago to Illinois. (Joey Gunther?), and a guy like VV who wrestled on 1 leg, and pulls the trigger multiple times. Neither scored points, but one is actually offensive. He will probably be even more so with 2 healthy legs. My only point was he has an attacking mindset but needs to finish his shots. Some guys figure it out. Others don't (Cullen comes to mind).

BOLDED PART: I couldn't agree more. Every weight needs to have a guy favored to be wrestling on Friday night in the semi's.

I assume he's going 149. Drakes Instagram to Nasir said back2back. Nasir reposted saying back2back2back. Which I assume means Drake,Nasir, and Jordan.

Oh boy, don’t show this to PSU fans or else they will lose their minds that other athletes think this way

I think this is a positive for the Hawks. You are probably +8 at 141, +5 at 149 from this year's tournament, that offsets what you lose at 197. Get Peterson and something at 157 and 100 points is in play.

If TnT add a legit 157 and with Williams already in the fold...with the impending roster limits, it's hard to fathom Voinivich, Block, and Estrada all being here next season.
JMO.

The program needs to be in a place where we have multiple guys who want to be on the team, feel they can win their spot and still feel it's the best place for them to get better for a future attempt at winning the spot if they don't win it. PSU has had many people stay and keep trying to make the lineup with them only leaving for their final year typically. Maybe them paying big money is part of this but they haven't had guys jump ship until typically after 2 or 3 times not winning the spot.

Just saying you can't have 4 149s with a 30 man roster.

Hell, are they going to pay GA some NIL $$$ to not wrestle next season? Look how that worked for Tom Ryan paying Welsh to sit out.
Maybe you let GA walk and use the portal for a 174 for the 26/27 season and beyond.
Kennedy deserves 174 for 25/26.

Interested to see what a healthy VV looks like.

Hope kennedy puts in more freestyle work this summer like he did last 2. Few more tools would be great.

Whoever mans 49/57 out of Williams, Estrada, VV, KV, and Block we should be sitting pretty good. As of now it’s a bunch of rd12 type guys. Whoever wins the weights should undoubtedly be AA contenders. I really like Estrada at 149 but we will see how it plays out.

Estrada still has a redshirt available, anyone else?

Whoever wins the spots deserves it.

And now he can learn to perfect the drop to one knee move by training with Ayala and Ferrari. With a repertoire like that, I'm confident he can become the greatest staller in the nation 🏆
Congrats you win the dipshit of the month on the forum (which is actually pretty hard to do)for this stupid post. Out of Iowas ENTIRE roster you pick Ayala and Ferrari to associate with stalling. Did you even read that post after you typed it out? You should next time you think about posting and just maybe you won’t come off so stupid.

Block used his traditional RS in 23-24 but in theory he could get another year on the backend of his career since he was hurt all last year. That would theoretically leave 25-26 for a RS should he want to spend 6 years in college.

Delucca may be worth more points next year than Peterson. Div I is a big jump from HS but will be something to assess early next year.

If you 5 wrestlers, you don't have (the) one.
You don't think 5 fringe AA type guys battling for 2 spots can produce good results? I think just the opposite. I personally think it will end up being Jordan Williams and Miguel Estrada. I would wager at least 1 is a AA. Don't be surprised if both find the podium.
