NW will come out wanting revenge from last year and wanting to redeem themselves from last week. I also think injuries take a toll on Iowa.

I hope I am wrong but....

NW - 24
Iowa - 16

NW really does have a heck of a Defense, despite what happened in Ann Arbor yesterday. It's just that I have a really good feeling that our own Defense will be up to the task.

Ott being out is going to hurt. Michigan's defense was in Northwestern's backfield all day long. Iowa doesn't get that kind of pressure, even with Ott. Northwestern's defense is good, the best we have seen to date, and we won't move the ball easily. Hopefully Boone will be back but we still don't know about Ike either. 20-13 Cats but then again I suck at pick-ems.

I think every prediction thread has opened with a hawk loss prediction.................

I like the results, keep it going.

Too many starters out I think we fight hard but it's not enough

Cats 28 Hawks 24

Iowa 31
Northwestern 21

These guys are seriously overrated and your team should have a reasonably easy victory.

Iowa is missing the #1 receiver, best d-lineman, both starting offensive tackles (thinnest position on the team) and the #1 running back. Iowa doesn't have the luxury of depth. This game will be tough and could easily be a Hawkeye loss. Also I think Northwestern is better than they showed against Michign. Wolverines were firing on all cylinders that day.

Would someone ( nw fan perhaps? ) please update us with n.w. team injuries? Players out for Iowa game,if any.? Thanks.

True, Iowa is down some really key players, but CJ and JC are still slated to play, along with D King and Josie J. ( plus about 50 other Hawks ready to give 'er )
Prediction - another tough big 10 battle .

Injuries aside, Iowa's offense needs to diversify itself... Like a portfolio. Canzeri was great this past week, but he literally carried a lot of game on his shoulders. Many say this will be another dog fight, but I'm going bold and saying iowa makes a statement game on NW. Tight game for the most part early but a king punt return opens it up in second half and meltdown mode of NW commences...

Iowa 38
Cardiacs 14

i've seen this posted before (not sure if by you). you were considering leshaun our #1? no offense to him, but what had he done to warrant that position? i'll take the guy who ran for 256 last week and be good with calling him our #1. does it hurt our depth that daniels is out, yep. but to make it seem like we have chopped liver in the backfield is an exaggeration... unless of course this is some sort of reverse psychologic, jedi mind trick. in which case, carry on. :)

edit: and until we lose, i guess i don't see any reason to bet against us: hawks 27 fightin' fitzgeralds 13

I agree that the fitzkitties will come out fired up and make it a game until late in the 1st qtr. That's when the HAWKS D will start to impose their will with the first take away and from there on out fitzkitties have a tough time moving the ball. HAWKEYES offense will score in every qtr. and the game will not be as close as the score makes it look.

HAWKEYES - 34

fitzkitties - 20

CJ has taken a beating here lately, and NW defense is very aggressive. Too many injuries to pull this one out - NW 28 - 24

I'll wait until later in the week to see who is likely to play.

But I will say that it is fair to call Daniels our #1 running back because he was the starter and primary carrier until injured.

I will take a shot at this if you will start saying NU instead of NW. Bear in mind that I am just an average fan with zero inside information, and our coaching staff is extremely tight lipped about injuries, unless someone is definitely out with a serious injury. .
Injury wise we are in fairly good shape. We had a few guys out a couple of games ago, but most of them are back already. OL DePietro has missed the past two or three games with what we believe is some type of lower body injury, he has a few starts and was one of the top six or seven offensive linemen. He is believed to be on a game to game basis.Safety K. Quiero ( not to be confused with his brother who is a reserve linebacker ) is out for the year with broken forearm . He was probably the number three safety, contributed quite a bit as Nickelback and on special teams. True freshman WR Nagel was out last week and believed to be out for a while with undisclosed injury . He only has a few catches but was listed as second string .Superback (hybrid TE/FB) Vitale left the game Saturday after a helmet to helmet hit but later returned to the game. We assume he will play but his loss would be a major thing . Biggest question mark is starting cornerback Mathew Harris who left the game after another helmet to helmet hit with what looked liked a concussion . Post game other players said that he looked and sounded fine in the locker room, but you never know. His loss would be a big deal. He is probably our best cornerback and will play In the NFL. So that amounts to one starter possibly out, one second string offensive lineman probably out, second string safety /nickel back definitely out.

Looks like it is going to be much cooler there Saturday so could be a running type of game. Think NW comes out pretty fired up after last week.

NW 21-17

Prove me wrong Hawks

It will all depend on the health of the oline. Norhtwestern's offense is built on the run game which is Iowa's strength so I don't see Northwestern having much success on offense but Iowa's offense is just so banged up right now. T. Smith out, Myers and Boettger possible out, Duzey sill not 100%, Daniels still not healthy. It really is amazing they have stayed unbeaten with the injuries they have been having. Right now, assuming all those guys are out I would say Northwestern 10- Iowa 9. If some guys are able to get healthy then I think Iowa can pull it off but it will be an ugly game.

Northwestern has good defense but the Hawkeyes have
more balanced offense to win 24-17.

It amazes me how many of you have lost faith so quickly. Yes we have injuries....we are also 6-0.

Daniels - Him being out this week is a non-factor given he was only healthy for one game this year. Canzeri is our guy. He is tearing it up. Based on what he did last week NW knows they must contain him which will open up our passing game. If they don't stack the box to stop him he will run it 35 times on Saturday and we will win. When you have a workhorse who is hot you keep feeding him the ball.

T. Smith - Continues to be a loss that we will miss, however we now know that J. Smith is a legit threat down the field. He is a freshman, however he also has as many career 100yd. games as T. Smith has.

Duzey - Not sure what is going on with him. Kittle has been hot of late and HKK is a solid TE as well. We are fine at this position. Duzey back this week would certainly be nice.

Ott - This one hurts. I think our DL overall still remains stout against the run and we will be more aggressive with stunts and blitzes as the biggest lot with OTT is his big play ability.

OL - If we have at least one of our tackles back this week we will be fine. If we are missing both that could be trouble I will admit. Whatever the case we will adjust our play calling to address this weekness.....run Canzeri, roll Beathard out

We really have not let anyone run the ball with much success against us.
NW's strength is not passing the ball.
NW's success has come against some very young QBs....I believe they are over rated.

I don't believe this game will be won or lost because of our injuries.
I believe this game will be won or lost based on our game plan. If we sit back in base defense and give their Freshman QB time to throw short passes and get comfortable its a mistake. We need to go after him and force him to beat us. I think if we do that our defense will keep us in the ballgame.

Have faith Hawk fans.

I have not posted that before. But he was the #1 going into the season. We saw glimpses of his potential before the injury. Canzeri has more than stepped in, but as I said my concern is depth. We're in trouble if Jordan is knocked out of a game. I love Wadley's potential but he is a fumble machine. The other option is a freshman. My post was a matter of depth.

I think KF3.0 finds a way to keep the winning streak alive.
I say Hawks 24, Fighting Fitzies 13

The middle of the o-line is playing great. Canzeri and co. will run the ball down Fitzs' throat. The cats will not run on Iowa. Period! Hawks 24-10

The Cats were embarrassed at Michigan. They will be looking to take out their anger on us. Still I'm going the Hawks 20-17. MK boots a field goal at the end of regulation to pull it out for Iowa!
