Iowa park ranger frustrated by sudden layoff as part of Trump purge

You're in a cult. Good people doing good work are losing their jobs via emails from a foreign born oligarch with highly questionable legal authority.
What is the most recent talking point handed down by the cult known as the DNC? Could it be constitutional crisis?

Every liberal pundit on CNN/ MSNBC have received the message loud and clear, haven't they?

Then they'll say they have to reduce the size of the park due to these issues and inadequate staffing, which will free up land to be bought/sold/leased to the rich folks or mineral companies.
Which I hope will be met with the same bipartisan outrage as when RDS tried to put condos and pickleball courts in Florida's state parks.

Yes,.. But I also understand that no matter what gets considered for cutting, there will always be those arguing to maintain the status quo...
You agree that a technocrat with no government background, especially in national park services, can make an informed decision of who should be fired within a month? Don't give me the answer that someone getting fired won't like it.

Setting aside the tag of technocrat, lacking in government background,.. I believe I already said yes.

What exactly do you envision needing rebuilt?

Take the DOE for instance. Education outcomes in this country have deteriorated since its inception.

Since you brought it up in this thread, what is it exactly you think that the Federal DOE does? What do you think they are tasked with, and specifically what do they do that tie to "education outcomes in this country have deteriorated since its inception."

So what specifically does the F DOE do?

State Parks vs Fed Parks.... that aside, this falls into the category "Trump, Elon and other wealthy folks do not use these services so they deem them "unnecessary"." When they want to go to the wilderness or some of the Trump family goes hunting, they have rich friends who they pay thousands of dollars for private access to the outdoors.

So govt funded and maintained parks are not a priority for them, and now they have MAGA agreeing that the US Park system is also unnecessary. The 325M people who access the parks each year likely disagree, and I'd bet some of the folks cheering for the firings now, will be complaining when they lose access to parks. They just don't realize it yet.

Layoffs/job losses have been happening in the private sector since the dawn of time. Government employees are no different. Welcome to the real world.
National parks are not a private enterprise. They are there for all Americans. Lots of Republicans over the years wanted them to be that way.
And, this isn’t a targeted layoff due to a specific need or lack of merit for those fired. You are working overtime to defend something that is very unpopular and unwise. . We like our national parks. This will end poorly for Trump.

Turned his kids against him is my guess.
