Picked 7th, actually finished 5th. Picked 9th, actually finished 7th (and missed tourney). Are you kidding me with this?
Iowa is being underrated. I’m a Josh Dix fan. Really good player. Love his midrange game.
We were lucky that Patrick's health caused him to sit out a few games pretty early into the B1G schedule. Before the changes, we were awful, especially our total lack of interior defense. Inserting Freeman, and then Dix, into the starting lineup gave Iowa a MUCH better team. The change was so dramatic that Fran brought Patrick off the bench afterwards. Glad we aren't facing anything like that this year, where the biggest questions are who starts at PG and PF, where we have good candidates vying for minutes. At both positions, it is likely that two players will get significant minutes, regardless of which player starts.i don't remember how Iowa was rated preseason last year, but after watching the first few games it was apparent that unless McCaffery altered the starting lineup, The season was going nowhere. Inserting Freeman, moving Perkins to the point and putting Patrick and Desonte Bowen on the bench helped, but by that time it was too late to save the season.
This years team has better athletes, should be better at rebounding, playing defense, and taking better care of the ball. We shall see.
Yeah, I forgot Dix wasn't in the starting lineup at the beginning of the year, but Fran made the mistake of starting Dix at the point in the Iowa State game and that didn't go too well. Moving Dix to the off guard and playing Perkins at PG was somewhat better but Perkins was not a point guard by any stretch of imagination. he did ok but in the end he showed his true colors. We were lucky that Patrick's health caused him to sit out a few games pretty early into the B1G schedule. I watched their game the other night and they looked very mediocre. Obviously, if he's the right guy, he is going to need some time.Michigan's new coach brought in a bunch of talent from FL Atl. along with others. Impossible to project some teams with massive turnover.
Box of chocolates mystery teams everywhere.
I am not a fan of this free agency landscape but it does inject some curiosity early on just trying to assess new rosters.
