There is not much separating #2 from #9 currently.I thought Cornell had a number of studs this year and thought they would be in top 5 teams.
They've got:I thought Cornell had a number of studs this year and thought they would be in top 5 teams.
Maybe I am missing something and assuming all you say is correct here, how is this Cornell team not at the very least equal to Iowa, if not better? And that is with the Hawks at full strength. They've got:
125 - #10 Brett Ungar
133 - #1 Vito Arujau
141 - #13 Vince Cornella
157 - True Freshman Meyer Shapiro expected to be a big contributor
165 - #7 Julian Ramirez
174 - #2 Chris Foca
184 - #8 Jonathan Loew
197 - #6 Jacob Cardenas
285 - #11 Lewis Fernandes
Arujau, Foca, and Shapiro will be their 3 headed monster, I expect all 3 to be top 4, with maybe 2-3 other low to mid AA's thrown in, and a R12 or two. They might have enough to push for 3rd/4th, but it will be tight.
With Iowa at full strength I think we have higher end scoring potential. Obviously I'm banking on suspensions being lifted and AJ joining the team 2nd semester.Maybe I am missing something and assuming all you say is correct here, how is this Cornell team not at the very least equal to Iowa, if not better? They only have 9 starting wrestlersMaybe I am missing something and assuming all you say is correct here, how is this Cornell team not at the very least equal to Iowa, if not better? And that is with the Hawks at full strength.
It appears to be positive with the NCAA announcing more lenient gambling rules, however we won’t know officially until 8 November.I must have missed the Cass and Brands news. Are they both going to wrestle this year?
If you watch their Media Day interviews they are both all smiles. Cass is asked if he feels more pressure this year to win it all seeing as it’s his last year. He says that’s the expectation every year, so no their isn’t MORE pressure. No hint at possibly not being eligible due to suspension.I must have missed the Cass and Brands news. AJ finals threat???? I sure hope so. I like all of what you putting down. With Iowa at full strength I think we have higher end scoring potential. Obviously I'm banking on suspensions being lifted and AJ joining the team 2nd semester.
141 - Woods finals threat
157 - Franek finals threat
165 - Caliendo top 5
174 - Brands could be considered a finals threat, obviously Foca has the previous H2H victory here. Top 4 for Brands for sure.
197 - AJ finals threat
285 - Cass top 4
Plus I think Ayala will AA if he can stay healthy, and we may be pleasantly surprised by 149.
What it comes down to is I think we have a stronger supporting cast to our top end guys than they do. Just my opinion. A lot hinging on suspensions being lifted and AJ joining the team. Plus there are a few different ways 165-184 could shake out for us.
Their ranking will change quickly once Shapiro starts wrestling. Currently he's ranked 22nd, but he'll be in the top 5 rather quickly if he wrestles as he has been...Maybe I am missing something and assuming all you say is correct here, how is this Cornell team not at the very least equal to Iowa, if not better?
