Iowa Response to Dresser

No way Brands wrote this. This was carefully crafted by the PR department. Like it or not, VT got jobbed and should have been coming to Iowa. Not sure what happened behind the scenes, but this definitely got everyone's attention. I predict a dual in the near future...unless Dresser was right about oranges...

Go crawl back under your rock.

Whatever it takes...Brands has been ducking Dresser for years. We have tried to schedule duals for years and Brands refuses. Might have to start calling him Joepa as he did it for 20 years in football...

Do we have us a coach here or just a scheduler? BTW Iowa met and beat V-Tech like 31-3 in the Ames regional of National duals in 2012.

on the plus side I just checked big10plus there are 12 duals over 4 days I am about to go deep couch city.
You think you are? I'm going to move so infrequently, I'll be like this guy:

VT
You are seriously delusional or should be institutionalized. After the transfers got screwed by VT, you expect Iowa to ever schedule VT in anything to help them? Not happening. And BTW, it's not ducking when your team barely surfs into the top 20 every few years.

Our last dual was in Bozeman, where Terry briefly coached. Iowa (and Gable) has a history of bending over backwards to help the sport.....to those that deserve it.

Try getting a real team that competes at Nats with us for a few years, then we'll talk. Until then, you're (and VT) are ankle biters

Let's say Brands did say no thanks to wrestling VT. He accomplished exactly what he wanted. It drives Dresser nuts.

The Brands have essentially broke Dresser.

Dresser is busy running around getting on any forum that will listen to him, trying to get people to believe In something that maybe happened probably didn't, while Brands is busy coaching.

I mean come on. Of course a dual between VT and Iowa is a HUGE deal for Dresser. No so much for Iowa. I am not even sold that they are any tougher matchup than NC State, Mizzu, Nebraska or a Illinois ... How many times do we have to hear "This team is a tough matchup?" Sure if they win 5 swing matches they could pull off the UPSET. That is if Walz can beat Stoll.

I just want to commend @VPIGUY for his incredible restraint from posting for so many years. Registered in 2001 and didn't post until today - almost 14.5 years later. That's impressive.

I look forward to meeting you in NYC.

HA HA HA. Good one. [BTW, I think VPI has already been shown the door.]

After Dressers' comments and how VT screwed Iowa when he left them I wouldn't let the in Carver. We don't need VT to be relevant they need us. Why even give them the stage? Dresser is an idiot, if he wants a dual with Iowa let him get down on one knee and kiss the ring.

We will see who is laughing at the end. We will bring you some oranges to console you...

I look forward to it...Will be back in a month to revive this thread...

Dance 4th - Think he loses to Megaludis in the rematch for 3rd place. Could finish lower, he did lose in R12 last year after Gilman made him fold in the Quarters. +14
Gustafson - R16/R12 He's been looking pretty tough lately, and i thought he looked good against Hall at Virginia duals, but hes behind a bunch of guys at this weight too. +2
Chisko 7th - Good freshman, think he AAs in his first time out. +8.5
Mastriani R16 - With the way he's looked this season, making R12 again is not very likely. +1.5
Brascetta 6th - I feel the top 5 at this weight class are better than he is. +10.5
McFadden R12 - He has a good skillset, but he is inconsistent against ranked opponents, fails to get on the podium as a FR, but think he could be a 3x AA. +3
Epperly 3rd - He could probably win it, like a lot of guys at this weight if they got hot, but he hasn't seen the mat a lot this season. Still think he high AAs. +16.5
Zavatsky AA 6th - he's looked pretty good this season other than getting thumped by McCutcheon early on. I think he loses to Brooks in 5th place match. +10.5
Haught R12 - Finishes about where hes ranked. +2.5
Walz 3rd - See 197. +16.5

TOTAL = 85.5

Gilman 1st +23.5
Clark 2nd +18.5
Grothus R12 +3
Sorensen 2nd +18.5
Cooper R12 +3
Rhoads 1-2 +.5
Meyer 7th +8.5
Brooks 5th +11.5
Burak 3rd +16.5
Stoll 7th +8.5

TOTAL = 112

What needs to happen is for Brands and Sanderson to INSIST to the BIG that they wrestle each other EVERY year.If not schedule it on their own there is precedence.

There is no way the BIG would do that. You need a regular schedule to be fair. Every year you do this, there are 2 other BIG teams that don't get to wrestle Iowa or PSU. One of which, presumably, would be a home meet with higher than average attendance.

Your assessment is realistic. I think you might be reaching on Gilman and Grothus, and I think Chisko is going to finish ahead of his rank. Very realistic that the total scores you posted could be flipped if I am right...

Call Me ignorant, but could someone explain what exactly happened between Brands and Dresser that has caused such deep hatred that most of you feel you should never wrestle VT again?? That you would not want the better match up to grow the sport? Please tell me its more than just not releasing Metcalf straight out to Iowa 10 years ago?

I don't think anyone was against it until Dresser decided to be a Kumquat yesterday.

lol, I am sure that definitely pissed you guys off and the reason for lots of the Vitriol.....Is Dresser saying that VT was going to wrestle Iowa and that Brands singlehandedly changed it to NCState by calling the right people due to the history between the 2? Is this what Dresser is claiming or am I missing something?

VT fans were bitter at Brands when he left. He redshirted one of the best classes in the nation while letting VT flounder to a 1-16 record. Jim Weaver (AD) made a major financial commitment to the wresting program and Brands made commitments to our Athletic Dept. He knowingly red-shirted 5 guys in order to take them to Iowa with him when he found out Gable was going to hang it up and he would be in line for the job. He left VT's program in a shambles...we have not forgotten.

I think Dresser was basically saying that VT was supposed to wrestle IA, but things changed behind closed doors and VT got stuck wrestling Mich. I could be way off though. Dresser certainly didn't help his cause by calling Brands a pussy.

LOL. First off Brands did not replace Gable, Zalesky did. If he knew Zalesky was going to get fired he would have just stayed at Iowa and took over. 2nd, what led the spark of Zalesky getting fired was talk that ohio st was going to go after Brands for their opening. Lastly, Vtech was not even an afterthought in the wrestling world before Brands went there. It was worse off before he came than after he left.

Um....Brands always redshirts his Fr. so your point makes no sense whatsoever and we are all dumber for having read your post.

Nor have we about how VT screwed 5 wrestlers out of a year of eligibility because of a bitter A hole AD. There was no knowledge he would be coming to Iowa when he chose to redshirt those guys. VT is and was just too ignorant to see that.

Whatever...I forgot about the interim coach...going back in the memory banks here. The point is our AD found out Brands KNEW he was going to leave, told his freshman wrestlers he was going to leave BEFORE the season and purposely redshirted his best guys so they could follow. It was ugly and underhanded. I don't blame him for wanting the Iowa Job and anyone in their right mind would have left to take it over the VT job....no illusions here. The way he did it sucked.

You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. Nothing you wrote in this post is fact except for the part that anyone in their right mind would have left VT for Iowa.

Punishing five 18-19 year old kids because you think the coach knew he was leaving? If you can justify that decision in your own mind so be it.

If Brands new the Iowa job was opening, he would have just had the 5 go to Iowa, redshirt, and wait for him.

If you bothered to read the post it said "IF NOT THROUGH THE BIG THEN SCHEDULE INDEPENDENTLY".

Just an fyi, Dresser is going to be on flo radio tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be an idiot again.

you know the flo guys will try to draw him out, I hope dresser is smart enough and has had enough time to think about this alittle. between dresser calling tom a pussy and vak calling him a liar I think somebody should apologize.
