Yeah, you cant have a great season being one dimensional on offense.

Remember, Campbell and Benson were hurt in the first 2 games to start the 2020 season. When they came back the defense was great that year and super in 2021, '22, and '23. Kirk squandered a chance of doing something special because he couldnt demote his son.

Kirk could have fired his OLine coach after 2021, moved Brian back to OLine coach so his son would be able to live nearby in Iowa City, and Kirk could have gotten a much better OC. And maybe Brian gets the OLine working better in 22 and '23.

Whatever, but Kirk was not making decisions that were best for his players back then. And best for himself as he was winning 10 games a season, he just needed an offense that was average.

Yes, and these type of games happen to everyone. We cannot believe that one side of the ball must play perfect every game every year forever as the only means to get into playoffs

When the defense does struggle, it would really really help if the offense could carry the load.

Yes, Iowa has racked up a ton of wins in the most improbable fashion. Yet they’ve accomplished nothing on a grand scale or stage.

Iowa is continuing to be a laughing stock of programs because of the offense. NBC flat out called it unwatchable.

I’m happy for the players to get a win.

the landscape of college football has changed and will continue to change. Iowa stands next to no chance of ever being relevant with this style

^^ Kirk's age and longevity are starting to be used against him and Iowa on the recruiting trail. But there are a lot more transfers out there.

But we need a passing game where you can confidently throw on 1st down a lot and have quick 5-7 yard gains to spread out the defense and run the ball or pass based on counting helmets in the box etc.

Not quite the same, but i get your point. In the long run the TEAM won. Then you analyze the total results & change out the weak link. That's what a good manager/coach does. Took some time with BF, but Iowa is getting there.
