Yes. They pulled the teams off very quickly. How did these games get cancelled? Was it lightning for several hours? This is football, right?
My guess is there were a few more people at the Iowa State game than the high school baseball games of which you speak. Not many, but a few.Yes. They pulled the teams off very quickly.
Been to high school baseball games where they were not that trigger happy.
Yeah. I don't think you mess with lightning, but it just seems odd to cancel. I would expect it played even late at night.Right now 4 hours later and non stop lightning. No sign of letting up.
Not like they opened Hilton or the practice facility for fans to get out of harms way.My guess is there were a few more people at the Iowa State game than the high school baseball games of which you speak. Not many, but a few.
We look like silly bishes worrying about their 1 game suspensions. I don't think any of their players killed anyone.
What does it matter to you if we do?I really hope we don't make this a thing with ISU fans. Jesus christ. They are supposed to miss one game. If they only play 11 games, they missed one game. If the SDSU game is somehow rescheduled, re-suspend them for that game.
Some truth here about me worrying about it. I work with like 65% ISU fans and it would annoy me to hell if we won a close one with a couple of their regulars down because of suspension for relatively minor issues. I would hear it for a year.Nobody is worried about it, except you. It's about principle. At this point it will only be for a week and not a game. Idc if they play against Iowa. But for anybody to say "if they reschedule the game, just suspend them then" is out of touch with reality.

But I also don't care about the false "principle" here. I don't think it's accurate. They've been punished. I'm assuming ISU is smart enough to give the bulk of game week practice reps to the guys who were actually going to play in the game. I'm assuming the suspended guys didn't suit up and weren't allowed to participate in pre-game warm ups and didn't get to take the field with the team before kickoff. I'm assuming they were standing on the sideline in jeans. If I'm wrong about those assumptions, I wouldn't know because their game wasn't televised nationally anywhere because they're ISU. I don't like my fellow Hawk fans assuming that Kirk would hold Wirfs/Jackson out another week if the game today was called due to weather. That's never happened in his tenure so we don't know how it would be handled. It's fairly rare in CFB so we don't have a lot to compare it to. Limited precedence.
I don't know why they aren't either. The game wasn't on real TV so it was all being paid for by ISU/their fans. I would think the money for the bus or plane SDSU chartered would be worth a quick negotiation between the schools. No class on Monday because of the holiday. The attendance would be hurt, but that matters little at this point. Maybe it was seen as potentially too competitive for either school to risk an L if there's an excuse to not play the game. SDSU is probably not winning the Missouri Valley and they'll be looking to get in the FCS playoffs at large. Maybe it's in the contract that SDSU forfeits some of the money if the game is called off and the ISU athletic department just got a minor windfall. Why aren't they playing the game tomorrow?
Because the sheep have been startled by the storms and need comforting, at both schools. Why aren't they playing the game tomorrow?
That's a good point. I think if they get a 12th opponent, it probably won't be SDSU. It'll be whoever is available during their off week. Maybe let them play that game too and let the suspension stand as missing out on everything leading up to the home opener. The suspension is still on the "record."Yeah, I gotcha. The biggest deal will be if they dont sit out against Iowa, they reschedule and sit that game out, that's a very bad look.

Easily, I think, if ISU wants it and wants to pay for it. The NCAA has little oversight. They approve a waiver and one G5 or FCS program gets paid a bit to visit Ames. Again, limited precedence here. I don't have the scheduling matrix in front of me, but it's also possible they find an opponent who isn't scheduled to play 12 due to weather or whatever else. How can the opponent be allowed to play 13 games?
I guess it happens, but how often do college games get cancelled because of weather? I know some games were postponed after 9/11, but the last football game I remember getting called off was the 1976 College All-Star vs Chicago Bears game that was literally washed out. Probably forgetting some recent ones, but doesn't it seem as though the weather is playing a larger part in our every day lives.
Not all of them. We have a thread with several people criticizing them for it. The situation is unique. Great start to a lot of dumb that this week always brings.I don’t really care either way if their suspended players play, I believe Iowa will win regardless.
But it’s more about Iowa State fans being the biggest hypocrites out there, they would be throwing an absolute fit if the situation was reversed.
We’ll see how your Cyclones hold up in Kinnick. If I were you I would’ve rather played that game today win or lose. Not all of them. We have a thread with several people criticizing them for it. The situation is unique. Great start to a lot of dumb that this week always brings.

Who they going to schedule on their bye week? No one is going to agree to play an extra game.Pollard said they would try to schedule a game during their bye week. So no, that means they’d get to play in 12 games.
Clever insult, old man. I defer to your elder wisdom. I'll forget that you questioned my loyalty because I wasn't a chickenshit hoping that ISU would be without pieces in their depth chart next week because of half-served suspensions for minor issues.Lol, lil boy! You’re dumb entertainment but still entertainment I guess.
Definitely defer to my wisdom. Your Cyclones had better bring it next week lil boy!Clever insult, old man. I defer to your elder wisdom. It really is an underrated place to tailgate. I've always had a fun time tailgating at ISU. Just always felt like there's more space to roam than other places, but I was also closer to the stadium as well.It was a holiday weekend. ISU is a great place to tailgate c
Sometimes I'm glad weed is illegal in Iowa. Never when I want to buy a bag, but at other times.Definitely defer to my wisdom. Your Cyclones had better bring it next week lil boy!
I had a blast tailgating there in 2009. My brother was a freshman at ISU and I was a junior at Iowa. We had just narrowly escaped UNI and I had no expectations for what ended up happening that season. I thought we would get punked by ISU. I was still 20 and bought 3 cubes of PBR for my brother's friend with a fake ID in IC because he was offering an easy commission and giving me his student section ticket. The one pleasant thing about Ames is that it's easy to find parking 24/7/365. We met up with a mixed Hawkeye/Clone tailgate at that gigantic grass lot kitty-corner from the stadium and started drinking beer. This one guy at this tailgate was doing shots of Jager almost by himself. He would pour two shots and offer one to a friend and if they didn't want a Jager shot he'd do both. The cops patrolling saw him swaying and walked up to him to just to make sure he wasn't going to die. When he noticed them, he stumbled to the RV we were tailgating by and climbed the ladder and laid out on the roof. Turns out he had warrants and the cops were patient enough to wait him out. Then Iowa won by like 30 points. #CSB.It really is an underrated place to tailgate. I've always had a fun time tailgating at ISU. There's the 12 game thing and there's also the money for a smaller program to visit a P5 school. I think the NCAA would allow a garbage non-playoff FCS team to play a 13th game at ISU for a reasonable paycheck. Or a bad G5 team. Would ISU want to pay to play it? Depends on if they think they can qualify for a bowl without it.Who they going to schedule on their bye week? No one is going to agree to play an extra game.
You can always challenge a charge and your bank will be glad to do it. They will give you temporary credit back. Then they send the dispute to ISU. ISU would get the dispute letter and they have so many days to respond back to your bank. If they don't respond, that temporary credit becomes permanent.Single game tickets say on them that date and time may be changed without notice.
.
Doesn't say anything about assuming risk that the event is cancelled.
I think if they don't reschedule a replacement game they will have to refund at least the single game ticket buyers.
I might challenge my credit card charge.
the iowa coaches simply need to focus on who is playing and prepare accordinglyI don’t really care either way if their suspended players play, I believe Iowa will win regardless.
