Iowa State-SDSU game cancelled

You tried champ, keep your chin up. You weren’t even able to piece together what we were talking about, but you tried. And that’s all that matters bud.

You are cool, I promise.

I can go find about 20 threads that he posted on the Off topic board that were ridiculous, but I don't care, I'm not a child like you.

do the suspensions matter? oh no the blessing full hawkeyes might only win by 60 instead of 70. dont get greedy hawkeyes or your blessings may be revoked.

The Gazette ran a three-part series about a player. I asked why. Nobody was able to answer. It wasn't a big deal.

Yeah, that’s all it was.
But I'm puzzled. Marc Morehouse of The Cedar Rapids Gazette has a three-part series about Parker Hesse. It's the kind of coverage you would expect to see of a player who has won two Heismans and is favored for a third.

Clones scored in 5 plays last night and then the games was cancelled. SDSU might have scored once during the game and the Clones would have had a nice workout and easy win. Hawks are going to get beat in Kinnick next week.
They go through their scripted plays so they'll walk into Kinnick and win? Okay.

Both coaches claimed it would disrupt preparation for the following week. I agree that it should have been played regardless of how long you wait.
Disagree. It gets to a point where both teams are too tired from waiting + awful field conditions from the rain that it becomes dangerous.

Thanks. I would not interpret that to mean we'll get a refund if a 12th game isn't added. I would think it's more likely he meant that those who had a ticket to yesterday's game won't have to pay to see the new one. That would be a little complicated, but not terribly..They could issue tickets to season ticket holders, of course, and to anybody else who saved their ticket.

But who knows?

That is not accurate. Several people answered. Obviously not to your satisfaction. Some answers were well thought out and made sense, some were ridiculous. To claim otherwise is not accurate.

I can argue either side of it. As someone pointed out, it's what Kirk did with Snyder; I could argue either side of that, too.

Side A: Suspension for a game means you aren't allowed to play in a game that you otherwise would play in; thus they should be suspended for another game.

Side B: They were punished in virtually all respects, including not starting -- all three were starters -- in the game. They were embarrassed publicly and before their teammates, they didn't take part in game activities. If they were suspended for the next game and got dinged during the week's practice and unable to play at Iowa, would they then be suspended for Oklahoma the next week?

So almost being punished as much as they originally were to punished is justifiable. Interesting.

I am happy they are playing as don't want the excuses. Although already hearing about how they didn't play the game so advantage Hawks. BTW, if we have an advantage cause ISU didn't play a game, then how did the ISU players serve a 1 "game" suspension? Also, not sure what idiot said it, but somebody said the players were only suspended for the "SDSU game" so it was served. Um, everything I saw was a "1 game suspension" with no opponent designated. No game was played. And let's not kid ourselves. If it was Akron or Kansas this weekend, the suspensions would be served this week. Period.

You realize i'm an Iowa fan, correct? Wirfs, Jackson, Reiff and Lattimore should also be playing if the NIU game got cancelled.

On the Ticket refund, I wasn't there nor care.
You say that with confidence, but I'm not too sure thats how KF would handle it. Don't know, don't really care either, just sayin.........

Good thing pollard isn’t the commissioner of MLB. Player gets a 5 game suspension but only misses 4 because of a rain out one night. Or let’s say UNC had their game cancelled this week. Do you think the players with the 4 game suspensions would still be at 4 or dropped to 3 by NCAA, doubtful they’d get a game knocked off.

Honestly after how they handled the CB Peavy being arrested last season on a Thursday night for vandalism and running for the cops and letting him play 36 hrs later at kstate I’m not surprised at all by this decision.

I should have been clearer just now. Several people explained why the situation was worth a story, and I agree. My surprise -- and what prompted my question -- was that a three-part series is a pretty BFD in newspapers, especially these days with space at a premium. I could understand why the situation merited a nice feature story, but thought maybe there was a reason with which I was unfamiliar that convinced the Gaz folks it was worth a three-parter. I never dissed the kid.

It was an unusual amount of space for one player.

My question is if it was a high school student who did something wrong (caught drinking or smoking) and was suspended by the state high school league or if an NFL player was suspended by the NFL for the substance abuse would they consider this as one of their games suspended. I don't think they would but I could be wrong. I know it is not 100 percent the same just looking at how sanctioning bodies like the NFL or a state high school League would handle
