Iowa vs NC St Predictions

Love all the "fans" that come out when things go rough. Rather have the trolls.

I'll eat the crow VPI guy...your guys are well coached. Wrestled well when they are outmatched and took nice shots. Helps when our guys apparently smoked weed and munched on Cheetos before the match.

Except Gilman.
Not done yet, but looks like it's done unless Gwiz gets injured. Not trying to be a jerk...just believe we have good wrestling in the ACC...don't get credit for it from most of the country..,

We're a 5 weight team right now. We'll get nothing from 141, 157, 165 and very little from 174 and 184.

Painful to follow this thread wanting results! We are not a title contender anymore and have not been competing at an elite level as a whole for some time now. The mental edge Gable instilled into guys across the entire lineup isnt there anymore other than a few self determined and motivated individuals. Im just hoping to see one or two guys reach the ncaa finals this year and maybe a few others have a good showing.

Where the hell have you been all season while these wads have been painting cute little purple binos on my posts?

While this is disappointing, I am still having a hard time understanding the Grothus result. You can't get Teched in your last dual at Carver when you a wanting to be a top contender. I don't know, that might be a reason to hold a wrestle off for 141 now. You just can't have that.

Now it's time to really wonder why we weren't ready for NC ST. Is it due to schedule weakness this year? This is the best team we've wrestled all year. No TOSU, PSU, Mich had us coming into this match not battle tested.

NCST just got done with Mizzou and VT. They were ready for this level of competition. We weren't.

Risk aversion is killing us. We've transformed into a tactical team...wish they'd let it fly regardless of win/loss outcome.

This...seems we have reverted to last year's style. I was watching little Brands wrestle in the state tournament the other night and he came out firing on all cylinders. The other guy took him down, took the lead, but he kept on coming. Took the lead but was still shooting at the end. Starting to think it's genetics.

I think they were motivated to win, they looked at this as a chance to prove something. We looked at it as another match we would wrestle and win.

Hope Brooks and Stoll are OK. Most important thing right now.

Wish we had a few more with Gilman's attitude and urgency.

Going to take a little bit of time to get my optimism back. That was depressing.

I don't think anyone expected Clark to win by decision. Most figured major at a minimum, and probably a tech or a fall.

Add the fact that Cooper actually had a chance for a while against Gantt but the clock operator had a colossal brain fart that handed Gantt the major. . . and the fact that Rhoads actually had a chance but decided to start making legitimate attempts to score with about :30 left, and that's painful. . . and then Meyer sleepwalking and barely beating a guy with an 11-12 record. . . .

No, I don't think this meet has really gone at all like most expected.

So to continue on this theme, Brooks getting totally dismantled was a surprise, Burak barely beating Boykin was a surprise, and then Stoll getting injured was a surprise.

So looking back, this meet was pretty dramatically different from what anyone expected. . . unfortunately.

Maybe this is a bad time to ask but does anyone know what the attendance was tonight? Did we break 90k for the season?

Rhoads match was a microcosm of it all. He was in on the guys legs multiple times and bailed. No confidence. Danced around for two periods and when he finally let it fly he was quick and decisive on his shots and scored but then it was too little to late of course. Risk averse is right. Kids are too scared to give up points.

Sadly, this is the story of Rhoads' career. No confidence. Almost never willing to commit to a scoring attempt and put himself at risk against an opponent with a pulse.

Granted, 165 is far from this team's biggest problem. Even with a hole there, we'd be in good shape if we got production from our supposed big guns. Unfortunately, several of those guns aren't as big as we'd hoped.

I'm a PSU fan that's not counting Iowa out of this thing at all. You all wrestled or play sports. You know these types of nights happen to all teams including "dynasty's." I've watched some great Steeler teams play down to their competition numerous times. Same kind of things happen in wrestling. You had an Iowa team wrestling for what? Pretty much nothing. NC State came in primed to put up a great effort against a team many see as being as close to an equal to PSU as they come. I could be wrong, maybe I'm overrating them but I still see Iowa as my teams biggest threat.

No one is going to touch PSU this year unless there are injuries...different level.

Like I said all along hate this dam duals thing waste of time and now we lose Stoll well being healthy for sure
Why they had him continue beats me heck no way healthy he even gonna beat that Gwiz. Have no idea what has happen to Meyer and Brooks. Also Rhoads wtf he wasted 5 mins 3 in first perioc and then takes netural in 2nd and still never shoots for take down something wrong when a guy is in the room for 5 years and that is the results. OK sorry rant is over just pray that Stoll can at least wrestle and qualify now and we have no back up hwt. GOOD NITE.
