Well that really sucks. I can't recall the last time when two let alone one conference game in a season was called off for Iowa. Maybe a game against NW during the Dahm era?

Iowa is 6-4 in the B1G with the next two series being very tough against Minnesota/Michigan. Then we face NW and PSU. Iowa is really at a disadvantage here. Our conference standings and making the B1G tournament is really going to be dependent upon winning percentage.

Only good news I guess is that Heller has never lost a series to Nebraska and he is 9-3 against Nebby/Erstad.

You know what, screw this weather. Now all we get is a split against the Big Ten's 11th best team. I hear what Heller is saying about moving the season back a month and I'm starting to buy in. Any chance we could make the NCAA Tournament off RPI without making the BIG Tournament because we had a bunch of games cancelled?

Kendall Rogers had this debate 2-3 years ago because there were a few teams RPI wise, SOS wise that looked like NCAA at-large teams. However they did not make the conference tournament. I believe the general consensus is they don't make a practice of doing this. So we NEED to make the conference tournament. Like I said, don't even pay attention to the records now. It's all about what winning percentage says.

Also, some may disagree with me on this. I think you start Cole McDonald on Tuesday and throw him one or two innings to keep him stretched out before a Sunday start vs Minnesota.

Wait, it's winning percentage not number of wins?

Since Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana will not play all 24 conference games. Our standing is based on winning percentage.

For example....13-9 is a .590 an would finish higher than 14-10 which is .583.

12-10 is .545 and 13-11 is .541

Of course 11-11 and 12-12 are both .500 then you get into head to head and such.

Sooooo it's really a winning percentage game for Iowa at this point.

its a wonder that teams from the midwest ever make it to the CWS; the CWS is set up perfectly for the teams in the South

I just hope we can keep Heller; teams in the South surely are paying attention to what he is doing here; I wonder if he will ever get sick of the weather and the disadvantages of playing baseball in March and give in to an offer from a team from the South
