Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

For Sunday's recruiting visits, I don't have any names confirmed, but I took a look at their HS schedules to see who would make sense. Here's what I found:

Taliyah Henderson- Her state championship game is Thursday night. No scheduling issue for a Sunday visit.

Destiny Jackson-
Her team lost in the playoffs, so she doesn’t have any scheduling issues.

Adelaide Jernigan-
They have a playoff game on Friday, but don’t play again until Tuesday. She could certainly visit Sunday.

Jordan Spieser- Her HS has a game tonight, and would have another on Friday. After that, they wouldn’t play again until Monday. A visit on Sunday should work for her scheduled, though it’s a little tighter than Jernigan’s.

Addie Deal- She’s injured, so she could conceivably come to the game Sunday regardless of her high school’s schedule. That said, her HS has a game tonight, and if they win they play Saturday night. Not sure she’d plan a visit to Iowa when her HS might have an important playoff game the night before.

Brynn McGaughy- Her HS team has a state tournament game on Thursday, and they would play Friday and Saturday with victories. I’d be surprised if she planned to attend Sunday with a possible state final Saturday.

Layla Hays- Just visited. I doubt she’d make another visit so soon.

2026

Jenica Lewis- State championship game is Friday night. No scheduling issue. Another visit seems very possible.

Addison Bjorn- Same playoff schedule as Spieser. She has room in her schedule to visit, but it might be tight if they play Monday.

Maddyn Greenway
- Has a playoff game Saturday at 7pm. Could conceivably make the trip Sunday morning, but doubtful.

If there's anyone else you want to know about just mention them and I can take a look.

Hard to say with 26's & beyond. These would be unofficial & on the recruits dime. Trinity Jones from IL & Brihanna Crittenden from Colorado come to mind. Ava Miles is a 26 as well and plays AAU with Bjorn. Iowa offered in June of 2022 but I haven't heard much since.

Crittenden has a game Saturday night, so that probably eliminates her.

I believe Jones' team also lost in the playoffs, so she'd be free.

I assume Miles has the same schedule as Bjorn and Spieser being a Missouri recruit. I know her team plays tonight.

Does anyone know if there are streams for any of our out-of-state recruits' post-season games? I know Iowa is streaming all of our State Tournament.

Now that championship season is coming to a close, I expect an uptick in movement for 2025 kids. Quite a few Top 10, Top 5 lists incoming as spring rolls around. And inevitably some disappointments. I was surprised last year how many kids were committed well before their senior year — hopefully that trend stays for 2025. If only so that our staff can at least land some backups lol if/when certain targets pass.

In terms of specific recruits, I’ll be very pleased if it turns out Henderson took her very first visit after her junior season — the immediate weekend after, in fact — to Iowa.

I’ll also be surprised if Deal makes a 3rd visit. It’s possible for sure, even if only bc her brother goes to Grinnell, so it’s not an impossibility that she may be near campus again. But I suspect (does anyone know?) that her second visit was her official visit. And her first — I believe unofficial — visit likely happened bc she was visiting her brother, so it would likely need to be that kind of a situation again to make it worth the trek. But I could def be wrong…

@BraydonRoberts5 what about Dee Alexander? Thanks for sharing the initial list!

Alexander has a District Final on Friday. I checked, but couldn't find info on when their next game would be after that. I assume not until at least Monday if not later. She could probably make a trip on Sunday without issue.

Interesting thing about Alexander is Iowa has offered two of her AAU teammates as well. Bryn Martin and Aniya Trent both play for Springboro HS. Martin was the conference player of the year.

Maybe all 3 will come! Haha not the craziest idea tbh.

Funnily enough, I went back to the beginning of the Recruiting thread where Kyle listed all of the 2025 offers he knew of and I noticed one name I haven’t heard much of — Kendall McGee. Apparently Greenways teammate! Not sure if she has moved on or if we’re still in the mix…she reportedly has a Louisville offer.

Knee injury last year around this time that required surgery. Haven't seen anything since.

Thanks for your work on this and the ensuing posts!

A new name to possibly look out for in the 25 class is G Emilee Skinner from Utah. Stamp was in Utah for a tournament a few months ago. Whether she visits or not, I have no idea but there certainly seems to be interest from the Iowa side. Ranked #10 in the ESPN top 60 for 2025, 1 spot behind Bourrage.

Emilee Skinner is coming Sunday. She is a 6’0” PG with offers from Texas A&M, Louisville, Utah, Tennessee, North Carolina, Oregon, Kentucky, Oklahoma, USC, Notre Dame, UCLA, TCU, Baylor, VA Tech, MS State, Florida, Purdue, Illinois, Arizona.

Another thread lists ‘26 recruit Ashlyn Koupal will be at Sunday’s game. Pretty versatile 6ft3 guard out of South Dakota.

Seems like the Garzon/Parrish from Indiana type girl that's given us fits.

I want her to visit Iowa-- she's athletic and has so much upside.

Sunday would have been a perfect game to see. Hopefully, she will come out for the first or second-round games at home.

Also, I saw that she is visiting Illinois in the Spring on their board. Are future visits scheduled for her or any of our other targets not already confirmed to attend Senior Day?

EDIT: Henderson is confirmed as on a visit at Michigan this weekend.

Did some sleuthing around various prospects Twitter Likes today. Outside Deal (who — while still being highly engaged with our program — has also been Liking a concerning amount of ISU content), the only player with major movement toward Iowa is Speiser.

She has liked quite a bit of Iowa content recently — even non-WBB stuff — but she has also been liking a lot of Notre Dame unfortunately. Wouldnt be surprised if Iowa, Notre Dame and K-State are her top 3.

Thats all for today’s update of totally meaningless social media recruiting games.

With all the success the team has had and the HUGE fan support at regular season games and now winning BIG Tens with a huge crowd following was hoping we would have got a commit by now☹️.What’s your thinking shikreto and the rest of you think when we may land one and when.?

My guess is that some of our commits are waiting till after the tournament to see how things shake out. I predict that we will see some movement early spring/summer 2024

Don't forget kids can take unlimited official visits now which might delay the process a bit. Also most high school seasons just finished. A lot of prospects have posted top 10-12 lists. If someone takes 5+ visits, it's going to take a while. I think there are 5 to focus on. Deal, Skinner, Hays, McGaughy, Speiser.

Kids have been busy with their own basketball season. Things are finally slowing down tho bc their seasons aren’t as long as NCAAW. But since these kids take their teams far, their seasons are longer than a typical kids.

Then some kids wanna see how the post season goes; others probably wanna see how the portaling season goes (you always hear talk on message boards about coaches having to reassure recruits who get cold feet after 4 kids enter the portal).

There is always a lot of movement as kids wrap up their junior year. Between April of Junior year and November of Senior year tends to be the most common window for most top kids to choose, I’d say. Expect commitments to pick up as we get into Spring.
