It was discussed that the lack of success in the portal last offseason was because certain players didn't want to play for the Hawks, I feel this is just the opposite. The class and family atmosphere that this team has and of course the following of the fans, I believe sealed this deal. It's hard to imagine that her being at the Ohio State game, the way we played in the Big ten tournament, anf the shenanigans between LSU and South Carolina all did not play into this.

So with Houston and Deal in the fold for 25 I would imagine a big and a pg would be top priority (Hays and Skinner), Does Deals commitment pretty much close the door on Iowa and Jordan Speiser or do you think she would still be in play if the Hawks don’t land Skinner.
I think they would take Skinner, Hays, & McGaughy if they had the choice. Speiser would be a 3 primarily or stretch 4 depending on game scenarios which is where Houston likely projects IMO (though totally different games). I'd think she'd be in consideration if McGaughy doesn't commit more so than Skinner. She may be the odd person out which goes to show how stacked this class could be.

Bluder wants Speiser. Speiser is v interested in Iowa. She is a more likely get than McGaughy.

100% agree that McGaughy is the least likely to commit. Crazy thing is, 5 of the top 21 on prospect nations rankings are giving Iowa strong consideration or committed (Deal). Exciting time for women’s hoops.

Deal & Houston put Iowa at 12 players assuming no transfers or medical retirement in Ava's case for the 25/26 season. How many more will they take for that class...3 at most?
That may depend on the quality of remaining recruits, and the anticipation of who is likely to commit from '26. But with Taylor, Hannah and Jada gone after the 25 season, and Ava Jones and KJE not likely to see court time, they'll be down to a pretty small core to start the '26 season. So I'd imagine they'll want to add 3 more.

I think LSU has basically had the worst post-championship year imaginable. Deal is not the first elite recruit to pass on them this cycle. Joyce Edwards chose SC over them in a highly publicized decision that gave a glimpse into what an NIL deal at LSU is worth. The suspensions, the drama between former players and current players (as well as that of the drama between player's moms), and of course all the self-inflicted bad publicity around Kim Mulkey are a recipe for a kid like Deal to look elsewhere.
DONT FORGET that Deal could be an LSU legacy. Her whole family is from Louisiana -- she was born an LSU fan. It makes this commitment that much more impressive.
I almost forgot about that early season LSU drama. That guard even left the team. I wonder what all went down?
Haven’t seen much here about Divine Bourrage from North. She is right in our backyard.

She will probably go to South Carolina. If she wants more minutes, NC or UF. She’s not interested in Iowa and seems to want to be an SEC/ACC athlete. She actually retweeted a tweet from OSU when they beat us. Clearly not a fan.
