Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

When did I insult you? Like you bringing up what Clark did as a 16yr old high school player meant anything. She said herself she had to learn empathy, ad how to make her team mates better. Just consider one thing. If Clark joined another decent team would there have been more of a chance of her leading them to the final 4, or would Iowa have a had a better chance of getting there without her, and some other All conference player. The answer is simple and undeniable.....

Unfortunately, Guyton turned into a renegade gunner. She shot almost every time she got the ball. Her early play was outstanding. Of course, bringing back two senior shooters, the top PG recruit in the country and

Taylor Stremlow was recruited as a point guard. That Taylor will be pretty good reserve point. Taylor S was a top 100 player (I think). Adds a lot of good PR if your 5* PG's reserve is a 4*, maybe top 100 player .
Stremlow is a Syd Affholter she's not a point guard.

I should not have taken the bait and just let it go. History shows that you argue with many members on here and it usually ends up with you insulting others. Not my way of doing things. I'll put you on ignore. I look for discussions on this board along with opinions, not arguments. And for the sake of this, you win, I lose. No worries.
He went on my ignorant list long ago.

Oh, NO my loss..... lolol..So if everyone doesn't agree with some of the misinformed stuff people post here, like all those games CC22 played with Megan Gus, then they must be ignorant for not being another of the sheep. Some of you guys should just start up your own chat room so everybody shares the same nonsense...

The Nike Hoop Summit was over the weekend. Some former Iowa targets on the roster, with Emilee Skinner playing well for the winning US squad. With McDonald's AA game and Hoop Summit in the rearview, we may get some 2025 rankings updates soon.

New ESPN rankings

Deal down to 23
Hays down to 71
Houston unranked

Not a surprise to see Deal drop after the McD scrimmage and all-star game, and not a surprise to see Houston exit the rankings. The Hays ranking, the # 2 post, but only # 71 in the top 100, is still an oddity. Compared to recent previous classes, and the next two future classes, the consensus view is that the 2025 post class is very weak. ESPN ranks only 3 posts in the '25 class in the top 100, none in the top 60. That is very unusual. If Layla Hays were in the '26 class, with 6 posts currently ranked in the top 50, you wonder if her ranking would be even lower.

Frankly the 2023 class also shows how worthless rankings can be. 12 posts and Crooks has far and away had the best career to date. Besides Crooks, only Cunningham, Cody, and Strack have averaged double digit scoring in a season. Many of the others barely play.

Agree on how bad the post recruiting rankings have been. When the ‘25 post rankings first started to come out, I thought they might be ranking the ‘25 posts low in reaction to how bad their post rankings have been. But then the ‘26 and ‘27 classes have numerous high-ranked posts, so I don’t know what to think, other than the ‘25 post class is the odd recruiting-rank class. Very interested to see Hays over the next 2-3 years, given her very good (perhaps not elite) offer list.

I was just thinking about that same thing, and I bet if you ran a regression analysis, one of the strongest relationships to the number of stars is distance to the nearest metro area or distance to a moderate-major airport. Metro areas should have more 5 stars in total, sure, but that doesn't mean they should, or shouldn't, per capita have a stronger correlation to star rating than recruits in relatively more rural areas. Of course, the data could state that the opposite is the case.

Throw that data in with a type of rankings accuracy model, and you have yourself a baseline for inherent error in rankings due to geographical location. (Yes I know, no one cares, but I'm also posting this so i can find it later and remind myself)
