Also at the game yesterday. Clark is an amazing talent with great vision and ball skills. Thought she was a little off yesterday with 6 turnovers and a few bad decisions, including the play Legend mentioned on the 2 on 1 break.

Fantastic player though, a lot of fun to watch. Iowa is lucky to have her.

I knew it was going to be an off game for her when she missed that free throw as bad as she did

I love Gabbie, but I can think of at least a couple...

i'm sure there are other good defenders and you can make an argument for someone else but i'd still take Gabbie. She has a knack for forcing turnovers.

I think we'd be a top 10 team right now if we had Veronica Burton on the team. Take her off Northwestern and we beat them. We also probably beat IUPUI with her, and we would've had a better shot against Iowa State.

Burton might be the best perimeter defender in the country. She's averaging 4.1 steals per game (Gabbie is only averaging 1.8) and she can also handle the ball. Burton was the player I was most hoping would find her way into the transfer portal last year. She's exactly what this team needs.

Exactly. I'd also nominate Jacy Sheldon and Nicole Cardano-Hilary as the other top tier perimeter defenders in the conference. Gabbie has developed her defense a lot in the 1.5 seasons, so she definitely deserves some props for that, but I'd still put her just below these three.

I think the other type of player who would make a huge difference on our roster is an athletic, defensive-oriented 4 or 3/4 tweener. Enough size to be able to hold her own inside and be a force on the glass, but enough speed and versatility to be able to guard the perimeter, too. McKenna has also stepped up her defense a lot since last year but it would be nice to have some contrasting depth at that position.
