Call me crazy but I think we might be able to compete with Gonzaga.
I think they get us by 7-10 We won't be quick enough to guard them

This team has a chance to do great things. The Gonzaga game will show us where we are at against the very best. Then the conference games begin.
Until we win one of these games against the non conference big dogs, I can’t pick the Hawks.

We’ve seen 6 Iowa games. We’ve played 4 teams we should beat any year. We’ve smashed Iowa state when they’re obviously down. We beat a pretty good North Carolina team by 13 (scored 93 points). We’ve seen absolutely nothing to tell us we will lose to Gonzaga.
Could we lose? Yes. Do I think we will win? Yes. We have a great team. Not a good team, a great team! Any team can lose on any given day but this Iowa team has what it takes to beat anyone.

If our guards are hot we have a slight chance
They could get completely blown out of the water, but I would be surprised if that happened to this team. I think the 'zags win it, but Iowa has more than just a puncher's chance.
I'm glad they're getting this matchup. Win or lose there's lots of good things ahead for this team.

Boy... Zags being out for COVID throws a wrench into this.
I am guessing Iowa gets up early and is close at half (5 points either way) . Gonzaga wins by 10-15 and scores around 100 points.
Will be a great lesson to our boys on the defensive end and certainly doesn't mean anything in the long run. There are so many positives that can come from a game like this, even if we lose.

If we play well we certainly have a chance to win. I don’t know what to predict about who wins....but these are two of the very top offensive machines in college basketball that like to play fast, so I think at minimum both teams score 90 points....that’s my only prediction.

I’m gonna say they’ll beat us by 6 but it will be the game everyone wants. 98-92.

If the 3s are falling, we win.
Most of these guys are 3rd 4th or 5th year players and have played in many big games against top opponents.
Its not a defensive minded group or coach so they do half ass it against lesser opponents but they know the level of intensity it takes to play in these types of games.
They just may not be capable of slowing down a team as talented as Gonzaga.
That said Gonzaga could score 100 and still lose this game easily.

I would give Gonzaga the edge, but if the Hawks are hitting their 3’s they definitely can win this. Especially if they can play at least average defense. Should be a good game!
Hawk fans of little faith....not going to name the score but I think Iowa wins this game if played. The only thing I'm worried about is this, it's possibly Gonzaga's last game that they could lose for the rest of the year, and I just don't trust Mark Few. He want's that number 1 seed and losing to Iowa even though it's early in the season....well I hope they play the game so Iowa gets the chance to make a statement.
Four of their starters average over 30+ minutes a game and their 5 starter averages over 28+ minutes. They only play 7 to 8 players with Timme at 6-10 their tallest player that they have and he's a sophomore. If they want to run with us we'll wear them out and on a court that most of our veterans have played on before. Bring them on....

This game really is a toss up. The one thing that gives me pause is if there will be a rust factor with Gonzaga.

I guess that's what I am saying. I think Gonzaga starts a little slow from rust but because we aren't a defensive minded team, this game will show us what it will take to go deep into the tournament. This game seems like house money for both teams.
Gonzaga is only 16-55 from three on the year with one guy going 9-20. The career percentages for their guys are low to mid 30’s.
But they do shoot 65% from 2 and that’s playing Kansas/W Virginia. Several playmaking guards.
I’m also concerned about the size of their guards.
