Iran Deal Is Done

I seriously doubt Iran ever gets a usable nuclear weapon. If they do, then the world might know more peace. When countries get nukes, they become members of an elite club. They're no longer hassled by the Super Powers because they become one, technically. The big boys at the card table know better than to blow up their card table. Getting a seat at the table protects your country for perpetuity.

I think if Iran would simply allow itself to be commercialized and submit to the world banking system, they'd already have one. You can't use a credit card in Iran. They're real sticklers about usury in Iran. But, you also don't get to buy the illustrious cavalcade of crap you can buy here in mall after mall. Or, a beer, for that matter.

Well said, the only reason we don't want Iran to get a nuke is because it makes them less easy to push around.

Well theirs?

I think we all know our politicians are talk.
Politicians are talk everywhere. They push that line to control theirs just like ours pushes fear of them to try and control us. Some of us let them, some of us don't. Same goes over there (or anywhere). The sad part is, the majority let's them.

They do seem adamant about WHO they hate. Death to Israel, death to America and all that jazz..
It's a matter of them feeling as if the worlds super power, while using Israel as an excuse, is trying to push them around until they play ball the way we wish them to.
We have armed Israel to the point that they are able to quite easily defend themselves and go on offense if needed. They do not have to endure the sanctions or Nuclear agreements that everyone else has to. It's easy to see why Iran isn't our biggest fans. You'd have to think that Iran is just as worried about Israel launching nukes at them. Lots of blame for to go around for the relationship between the two.

I really can't decide about their top guys.

As an atheist, it's hard for me to judge when the top religious leader of a culture declares that his religion forbids nukes. Is he lying? I really don't know.

But my guess is that if Iran does develop a nuke, they will use it the way several people have suggested - as leverage to demand admission into the community of nations without all the constant threats, sanctions and such.

We are all familiar with the imagery of forcing a rat into a corner. Just because Iran has a nuke doesn't mean we won't keep applying pressure. We apply pressure to Russia, after all, and they presumably have more nukes than we do. But it does mean we may not force them into that proverbial corner.

While I didn't believe Saddam had WMD, I did believe he would have liked to have them. Mainly because if I were in his shoes, I would have liked to have them. Wouldn't you? Similarly, Iran's ayatollah may be telling the truth when he says they won't strive for a bomb. But I would if I were in his shoes. So I play the odds that they will eventually get one.

The main reason I have supported the Iran deal all along is that it gives us time to develop a better working relationship with them before they get a bomb. That way it may not matter whether the ayatollah was telling the truth. Of course we actually have to be willing to strive for such a better relationship. And some of our politicians promise to do just the opposite. Some GOP candidates have even promised that they would cancel the Iran deal. Crazy talk.

One thing I do believe that the Iranians say is that they want nuclear power. Those who think that because they have abundant oil, they must be lying about wanting nuclear power are missing the point. They want to sell their oil. Like Saudi Arabia, they don't want to end up with unusable treasure still in the ground - and without a power grid - if/when the world decides we can't afford to use fossil fuels any longer.

Agreed, except Israel has nukes for how long and hasn't used them? Plus the Israelis rhetoric isn't exactly the same.

Everything you said makes perfectly good sense. However you must admit they do support and finance terrorism. I don't think Iran would directly launch a nuclear warhead, however wouldn't put it past one of their radical groups getting enough material to make a dirty bomb.

I believe a group was just caught by the Russians trying to sell similar material within the last couple weeks.

No, it isn't exactly the same. It's just mostly the same.

Unlike Iran, where we mainly have ordinary people chanting slogans, the Israeli leadership makes direct threats to attack Iran.

If I were choosing whether to be in Israel or in Iran based on the amount of threat I see, I'd choose to be in Israel.

Israel may not have used its nukes, but it has them. And Israel has shown that it will attack neighbor states. Which Iran has not done.

Sure, they support people we call terrorists.

No one is pretending we are on the same side. They are interested in exerting power in the ME. Their main competitor is Saudi Arabia, our ally.

SA also supports terrorists. But we look the other way.

We support terrorists, too - except hat we don't call them by that name if we are supporting them.

To us, the Russians are supporting terrorists in Ukraine. To them, we are the ones supporting terrorists.

"Terrorist" and "terrorism" were pretty meaningless when we used them in the past. Today those terms have even less value.

It is a fascinating time. the Iranians are supposed to be deconstructing the nuclear facilities starting yesterday. However they have immediately said it will take a long time- because it is complicated process. You cant just unplug the machines, I guess. lol

Also- they get to keep a percentage of the facilities and the centrifuges running. They just have to be re-tooled to serve the biotech industry and cure diseases like Cancer!!.

You see, it is all going to be fine in the end. the Iranians have no intention of really making bombs. they just want to be a global leader in the bio-pharma world of research.

This is why they constructed these facilities about a mile underground and kept their locations a closely guarded secret.

So for now. the Iran Deal is on and is working. Problem(s) solved.

Ukraine invaded Russia?

Ukraine sort of did invade Russia in a round about sort of way: the Russians had an inside line on some Ukrainians on their side, the shadow government, they teamed up, invaded Russia, the legit government, and the shadow government took over and re-invaded ukrain, got rid of legit Ukraine, overthrowing the region
