For sureYou can bet Liberty Hawk will be making a dime somewhere.
Oh thanks so much for the spelling lesson teacher, meant "rathole" of course, used to refer to the waste of money or resources. But, we are so lucky to have another "hall monitor" in here like you. You are so special.Spare me your "rat-wholing" argument, whatever the hell that is. Iowa didn't earn, nor deserves anything better than they got. They earned then Pinstripe, fair and square. Mediocre 7-5 record (which shouldn't get any team a bowl game), boring and unimaginative offense, and weekly inconsistency earned Iowa exactly what they got.
I haven't bought Bowl game tickets from Iowa for 30 years(86 Rose Bowl)and will never again. If you are going to spend the money to go to a bowl game then spend a little more to get better seating.Anyone else a season-ticket holder and not received any information from the school about tickets? Typically we get the auto-generated email about price, how many you can purchase, etc. I've received nothing in the last week, and that includes checking my junk-mail inbox.
<shrug>.
Or spend less and still get better seatingI haven't bought Bowl game tickets from Iowa for 30 years(86 Rose Bowl)and will never again. If you are going to spend the money to go to a bowl game then spend a little more to get better seating.
Only reason to buy from the University for Bowl tickets is if Iowa made the playoffs one year.I haven't bought Bowl game tickets from Iowa for 30 years(86 Rose Bowl)and will never again. If you are going to spend the money to go to a bowl game then spend a little more to get better seating.

Also, I suppose you thought it was NU that got screwed when we were bumped ahead of NU a few years back for similar reasons (better following).
Which begs the question, you must be a NU troll then, yes?
You are wanting the hawk fans here to think lowly of our team and ourselves to accept a less desirable location, because we deserve to be punished and all. Child please!
With these second tier bowls, "Deserve" has nothing to do with it. Wake up man!
The Big Ten does not restrict Bowl hosts form picking who ever they want that is eligible, when it is their turn to pick. So they can "MAXIMIZE" there potential revenue!!! Get it!
Delaney should have kept his big mouth shut, let the free market do its magic. Less government is better government. Delaney should not think he can punish Iowa for NU's lack of desirability.
If NU has a problem with its fan's not following their "better, more deserving team to a better bowl", then that's for NU to fix.
Finally, NU had three overtime victories, one against Iowa. Lost to Wisconsin and PSU like Iowa, and barely beat Debby at home (OT). Iowa, with a much stronger SOS, lost 1 game by 2 points in the last 4 seconds of the game against a top 5 opponent (PSU), lost by 7 to a ranked opponent away (MSU), lost by 7 in overtime on the road to NU. Also, Iowa 50 pointed Debby in Lincoln and took top 5 OSU to the 50 point woodshed at home.
So, I am not sure anyone who looked at this overall would believe NU was truly the "better team".
Enough said....
My post was reflective of earlier news of interest form the Holiday Bowl noting a call from Delaney ultimately nixing the deal. I understand there is an order of picking established by the agreement applied to the list of bowls, but the Bowl hosts are not strictly required to stick to "who's next" in the "official" Big Ten rankings. Also, I doubt that the Holiday Bowl would have expressed interest if not within their understanding of the agreement. I do agree, that Wisky's loss and OSU's drop from CFP consideration, created a domino effect that left fewer warmer weather options available then usual. If you have a link or other evidence to the contrary or sheds more light on this process, that you can share, please forward. Go Hawks!BCRoss89, not sure if you know this or not, but the way bowls are slotted has changed. The conference now does it as opposed to the bowls. Also, you don't appear to be aware that there are rules about teams not being able to go to the Pinstripe over and over, and I think the max is twice in six years. So that played into this as well. There really wasn't much of a choice in the matter. Once WIS/OSU missed the playoff, Iowa was pretty much screwed into the Pinstripe Bowl.
Sort of a fundamental argument form the inception of this country, don't you agree? Big Powerful Central Government vs. decentralized government. I am not the first to support the concept of "less government" equating "more individual freedom more liberty" now, am I.Oh, let me guess.....govt is fine when its hooking up lucrative TV contracts that bring big $ to the entire league, but its bad when it's not getting us into bowls we don't deserve with a 4-5 conference record? Got it.
Probably not a big factor in poor attendance, but I agree with you. Poor set up for in stadium viewing. It's not as if this is a dual purpose field. If you take a look at the setup for this game there are very few what I would consider decent seats.Having a football game at a baseball field is simply not a good idea.
Any info on overall ticket sales numbers?
27 or possibly even 28. At least it won't be empty. If you split the group up you could have 4 people in each quadrant of the stadium to cover the I-O-W-A chantI was a part of a group email yesterday that said Terry Arndt is indeed taking his family of 4 to the game. He has relatives who live in the NY area.
Terry's brother, Don, lives in Maryland and if his daughter doesn't have volleyball that night, he said he'd be in, too.
So, with Terry Arndt's 4 tickets, that puts the number at 27. If Brittney doesn't have volleyball, it'll be 28 (Don).
With a rub & tug, right around the corner.Right between an oriental discount store and a Family Dollar.
Haven’t missed a bowl since ‘06 Alamo. Group of 17 of us heading to NYC from the 26th to NYE. Should be very cool. My second NYE in NY. Last one was epic!
Indeed. If you are going to spend the money to go to a bowl game then the team better win
Do you always change the wording of other post?Indeed.
Only when I want to make it better........Do you always change the wording of other posts?
If we can get 3,000 Iowa fans to attend this thing I will be impressed.
We are going. NYC is a place I never cared about until I went. Now I would say it’s one of the most amazing places in the world to visit. Will be fun to see Hawk fans in the Big Apple.
Having lived in Princeton and am very familiar W/ NYC I can tell you all this one simple fact to end this tired argument. NYC in the winter SUCKS! 1'st Christmas is over on the 27th.
2nd it cold! REally cold usually.
3rd., No one care's about this game period!
IF it was in June or July and the fans could experience NYC in the summer months it would 100% different. But it ain't.
...not to mention Iowa is a boring team to watch, perform horribly in Bowl games under Kirk and Co., and doesn't wanna be at this game spells doom.
Can't blame this amazing fan base. Loyal and true to the end but this bowl game blows!!!
You and I experienced a different New York. Mine was living in the city....yours was in....New Jersey.
As soon as Delany opened his big trap with the better bowls against Iowa going there, I lost my interest.
.
Good point, pretty sure I read it here, both the expressed interest, and Delaney's influence to the contrary, but as my only source, I wouldn't bet my life on it being 100% factual.Do you know for sure that that ever actually happened? There was a Facebook post alleging that from a person who claims to know what he's talking about, but my understanding was that Delaney later denied that he said any such thing.
I'm betting you'll be able to walkup and buy tickets on gameday. Once you're in, sit anywhere you like.Ticket prices are still high for this bowl. $66 cheapest seat on StubHub. Thought they would have dropped by now.
And your point is........?
Ummmm.........okay.Having lived in Princeton and am very familiar W/ NYC I can tell you all this one simple fact to end this tired argument. NYC in the winter SUCKS! 1'st Christmas is over on the 27th.

Look me up if you make it, the club is looking forward the hosting the Hawks that do make the trip east! Go Hawks!!!

Of course if you are really incompetent enough to need some agency to take you to a bowl game you deserve being gouged by these flea bagsTravel Advisors in Cedar Rapids had 14 planeloads of fans sent to the Rose Bowl two years ago. They have one plane going to the Pinstripe and still have 24 empty seats.
