Is anyone seriously defending Fran?

I went to almost all the games as a student under Lickliter.

I defended Fran for years. It's just time. I know that's not a great argument. Tonight's game was an embarrassment.

Short of a miracle run to the Sweet Sixteen, Beth needs to fire him. There will be keg stands, ticket sales and celebrations if she does so.
I'm in agreement, it's time for Beth to do her job, Fran only knows the offensive game and has no idea how to teach defense or rebounding, which is the other equation in this sport. Whether I wake up tomorrow and find out he has been relieved of his coaching duty's which is highly unlikely, or he is relieved of them after the season, that is the only way Iowa is going to get beck their fans and start felling the seats in Carver again.
Fran, go find a coaching job that's at a level which fits your abilities, it's just not in the BIG TEN.

Blowouts happen, especially w 3 ball.
Illini did the same to #9 Oregon at eugene last nite.
Now, if we lose at Carver on Tues to Nebby in same fashion that could be a bad trend.

Hawks up four, then Wisconsin went on a 16-0 run to go up 12. why let that happen without a quick time out? I switched it, had seen enough. Checked back with 30 seconds to check the score. Lost by 31 sad.
Have lost interest the last couple of years, poor brand of basketball.
Did this exact same thing you did. Wasn’t even bothered by the result. The apathy is very real this season.

Was there a game tonight? Iowa BBall used to be appointment television for me, and that goes all the way back to being a kid in the 80s. Now, I just don’t care. I’ve watched more minutes of women’s games this season than men’s. Iowa Football is getting closer to that same mindset.

Also, please don’t mention the word “defending” in the same sentence with Fran ever. Fran has no idea what the meaning of that word is.

If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn into the carpet I wouldn't be more surprised than I am right now.
If you watch enough of this game for a long enough period, you see that things like this happen fairly frequently. I think Illinois, e.g., beat Northwestern by 30+ last year and then lost to them a few weeks later. Many such cases over the years.

Iowa is not going to outright fire the winningest coach in its program's history.

That will never happen. Period. End of story.

I think a settlement will be worked out, and Fran will retire with all the accolades and respect due to him at the end of the year.

Should we hang that one big ten tournament championship banner??

Remember the fiery Fran? The clipboard throwing, chair stomping, "hold me back" in your face, beet red Fran?

Now, if he stands up it seems like a sign that he's engaged.

My exact thoughts. I didn't even bother to watch the game. Oh how I miss the 80s and 90s teams.

What about the coach with the most losses in program history?

After watching Frans's postgame presser and his mannerisms on the sideline of late, Fran has obviously checked out. Where's the passionate fire of yesteryear? He appears to be taking some form of Benzodiazepines lol.
