Is Cignetti getting good players due to his affiliation with Saban coaching tree?

He coached Julio Jones at Bama under Saban as a WR coach....is this why he is able to get so many good players from JMU to now go to freaking Indiana?

How come iowa cannot get any players even though Ferentz is supposedly so respected and makes NFL players, yada yada YAWN!!

Get out ferentz. no one likes you anymore

Indiana is a major upgrade over JMU for exposure. JMU does put a few players in the NFL.
Maybe that was part of the pitch. Probably had some NIL money too.
Just a guess on my part.

I think a lot of their success has been due to a very good offensive line protecting their QB. Be interesting to see if he continues to dip so heavy into the transfer portal. My guess he does...it's a lot easier to have ready-made, 3-4 year, players than developing high school kids.

Everyone will have to dip into the portal (essentially facebook marketplace) for players to make an immediate impact and try to retain those they recruit.

JMU is the best team in Virginia. That includes Virginia and Virginia Tech. Cignetti took JMU players with him to Indiana. JMU will recover from that, they consistently over perform.

I lived at Masanutten Resort (about 20 minutes from JMU) for 17 years before moving to Florida. Wife is from there (no pics) JMU alumna.
That's why I comment on him in other posts. Guy is a great coach! Wish it was us instead of Indiana.

Indiana has had a good offense for several years now. So offensive recruiting isn’t a problem.

The difference this year is they finally have a DEFENSE.
