Is Fran's youngest any good?

Here’s something people need to keep in mind: Patrick’s development has been limited by the drugs he takes to prevent the cancer from coming back.

Patrick’s natural position is as an Aaron White or Jarrod Uthoff type of a power forward, but the drugs he takes keep him from building enough muscle to be able to stand the rigors of playing in the paint. Because he’s still so skinny, he forced to play as a wing player, which isn’t the best spot for him.

Offensive efficiency ratings per KenPom:
  • 123.9 - C-Mac
  • 118.9 - Rebraca
  • 118.3 - Murray
  • 117.3 - Sandfort
  • 113.6 - Dix
  • 108.0 - P-Mac
  • 107.3 - Perkins
  • 99.1 - Ulis
This doesn't mean Connor was our best offensive player because it is easier to have a higher efficiency when your role is more limited (e.g., Kris's percentage of possessions used was 25.8% compared to Connor's 12.1%). But it does illustrate that Connor had a very good year.

Both Connor and Patrick are deserving of their scholarships and spots in the rotation. I do agree that I think both have, at times, received more playing time than they should have. When Connor was shooting 18% midway through the season last year, he was absolutely a liability. Patrick received a lot of minutes two years ago and last year that should have gone to Keegan/Kris. But both are solid contributors.

Led the nation in assists to turnover margin. Probably responsible for 4-5 wins. Remember 13 assists. Your memory must be bad from sitting on your thumb. Do you know anything about basketball? Have you ever played? Come out of your parents’ basement!
In the Big Ten Conference alone.....
- Jalen Pickett, Penn State (6.6 apg)
- Cooper Talon. MN (6.3 apg)
- AJ Haggard, MSU (5.9 apg)
- Paul McCahey, Rutgers (4.9 apg)
- Boo Biue, NW (4.5 apg)
- Brandon Smith, Purdue (4.0 apg)
- Trayce Jackson-Davis, IN (4.0 apg)
- Derrick Walker, NE (4.0 apg)
- Sam Griesel, NE (3.8 apg)
..... finished with more assists per game than Connor McCaffery (3.7 apg). That's remarkable considering Iowa led the conference in team scoring. He played more than 30 minutes per game. Everyone of those players shot better from the field and scored more ppg.

Nationally, Connor was tied for 194th in assists per game. More than 190 Division1 players had more assists/game.

The claim to fame is over-rated and his value is further diminished when you consider his awful career shooting percentages as well as his obvious defensive deficiencies. CM is -at best- a substitute at the P5 level. In light of his very limited production, that he was gifted starter minutes is baffling.... unless you account for the family name.

We all have differing opinions, with some opinions seemingly being headscratchers. But, man, in one post you used "developmentally disabled", "anyone with a brain", "idiots like you", "dummy", "blockheads like you", and "dipshit". Is it possible for you to voice disagreement without being disrespectful?
Yes, it is. I apologize and will not use curses or denigrating language again. It’s inappropriate and counter productive. Thank you for calling it out.

I expect he'll be very good by the time he gets to college age but not sure if i can stand 4 years of complaining about Fran playing his kid.

That stat is about as useful as the number of FT's we make vs. what our opponents attempt.

Iowa won 14 of the 19 by double digits, which is pretty impressive. That leaves 5 closer wins, 2 of them, Connor was really bad.

Pretty clear he was responsible for 4-5 wins on his own as you noted. You know everything about basketball.

Yeah, but he had 13 assists in one game. Honestly, this year was far from Fran's worst in terms of personnel management. There weren't any Murrays sitting on the bench and the bench in general was pretty meh. The only players you could argue should have played more minutes were Sandfort and Dix who were marginally better than the starters. Sandfort did average 21 per game in conference. The head scratcher is still Cmac at 34 minutes per game in conference play. Some of that should have gone to Sandfort and Dix but it's Fran's call.

It must be those same drugs that give him an inflated surge of over confidence in his handles and ability to drive the lane.

If he just focuses on being a deep gunner, combined with at least moderate effort in rebounding, then I think he’ll provide what the team needs and justify his starting spot.

Fran will be finished at Iowa once Jack graduates from Iowa.

He's a sophomore in HS, so who knows what he becomes. Not gonna be overly critical of the kid.

I saw him play once this year vs. Kennedy. Pretty smooth. Nice looking shot (certainly better than his brothers). Not terribly quick or strong, but this may improve as he matures.

My only criticism is how he plays to the crowd (flashing the three), and complains too much about officiating.

He certainly didnt stand out, but seems like a good player.
Can't imagine where he learned that.

"Claims"?

You're obviously a high IQ kinda feller.
Is your given name or surname Herklejerk? If the name isn't your surname and it isn't a given name than it must be a name that you picked, hence ''claimed'' for yourself, unless, of course, others laid that label on you.. And, who could blame them if they did.

Not this shit again. "glue" LOL. And Fran's insistence that Connor take over as PG down the stretch was IMO a major factor in the consecutive embarrasing losses to Nebraska, Ohio State, and Auburn to end the season..... not to mention the inexcusable decision to steal developmental minutes from Desonte Bowen.
So exactly like last year when we started Touissant only to have Connor then play down the stretch and take over the last 10-15 games of the season we did it again this year w/Ulis and lost him as well. And while I'm not saying Ulis was great ( he's not) without him ( or a true pt guard like him, Bowen, etc.) we were then forced to play Connor at the pt on defense and make room for Patrick to prance around the perimiter. And then teams ran circles around us on the defensive end. Bowen is going to really have to develop and get much stronger over the Summer and Harding as well as I think he's going to be needed.
