Is January 2, 2023 the Day the NFL Died?

As much as last night was horrific, it was a freak thing.

Imagine the horror if we still had to endure this:

Football at the time was particularly dangerous and violent. In 1905 alone, at least 18 people died and more than 150 were injured playing football. According to the Washington Post, at least 45 football players died from 1900 to October 1905, many from internal injuries, broken necks, concussions or broken backs.

What’s so interesting about the above is people still played the game even though their life was literally at risk to play.

That was back when men were men.

Back then, males made it to 47 on average. If you died playing football, it just meant you didn’t die of dysentery or polio or measles or venereal disease or appendicitis or some other shit that doesn’t kill people anymore.

Since you could have sex with 12 year olds while you were well into adulthood because most women died early in childbearing years, I can see why you want to get back to a time where men were “men”.
Different times for sure . Imagine the stank and hairiness and general dirty conditions people romped in back then. Sure wasn’t any fluffy sheets and waterbeds to get the grove on back in 1905. Just hay bales, dirt floors and outhouse romps. It wasn’t called road head back then it was buggy head and a man probably risked their wiener gettin bit off going over a bad bump in the dirt road. Man we do forsake our comforts sometimes.

We all like football and we all want it to be as safe as possible. But think about it....there have been just shy of 16,000 NFL games played all-time. And in each game there is an average of 154 plays run, both teams combined. That's around 2 1/2 MILLION plays that have been completed in NFL history. And this most dire of situations has happened exactly once. It is an absolutely horrible situation for this young man and his family, teammates and friends. But it's hardly likely to be the impetus for wholesale changes on the level to which you refer.

Actually, it's happened more than once.

OSHA needs to step in. If my construction company had as many on the job injuries as the NFL they would have shut me down...

Dude. People were horrified at that time and football almost was banned. President Roosevelt intervened and rule changes were put in place to tame the violence.
