Just a subtle jab at the libs!
In competition? Yes, it's easier to shoot a smaller and lighter ball. It's not enough smaller to make a difference at the rim. It's 1" smaller in diameter and 2 oz lighter.
There is a small difference shooting it, however, but even that isn't much. I know women bball players who shoot a men's ball just fine, even from distance.

Good for you. Now tell me about how BB players practice exclusively with the ball used by gender. Boys ball, girls ball. It's not that much easier. I've actually watch HS/college players of both genders play mixed gender games with each ball. It took each gender about 10 minutes to get used to the "wrong" ball. The only advantage either one had was no acclimation.
And no, the women's game wouldn't be any worse if they used the size 7 ball.

The NBA basketball size is 7. Its dimensions are set at 29.50 inches (75 cm) in circumference and a standard weight of 22 oz (623 grams). The diameter of an NBA basketball is between 9.43 (24 cm) and 9.51 inches (24.1 cm).1" smaller in circumference
Less than 1/3" smaller in diameter (0.318")

Yeah, I don't know why I was thinking diameter, I knew it was circumference. But, it's not that different overall1" smaller in circumference
