If I had to guess, it is the dirty play that they coach. Tripping, grabbing, pushing, etc. We see it year after year. But there must be something with Coach Gard as well. Gard sure didn't give Iowa any credit in the postgame.that is particularly irritating to Fran? Its boring style of play, attractive to guys like Brad Davison. must bug the hell out of Fran.
True that. I should have said that Wisconsin's dirty style of play was attractive to guys like Davison. I can't think of another player whom the Big Ten suspended for the dirty play.If I had to guess, it is the dirty play that they coach. Tripping, grabbing, pushing, etc. We see it year after year. I think you see teams like this one, ISU, and others who don't just play physical defense but they are sneaky about how they do that to avoid getting called.....hence Fran being pissed at the officials for not recognizing and calling those fouls.that is particularly irritating to Fran? I agree. One play from Sunday that was dirty and dangerous was Hepburn undercutting one of our guys as he jumped to rebound. As a former player and coach who has never hit another person in my life, it would have been a challenge for me to not retaliate or respond violently to that kind of play. Disgusting and no place for it.I think you see teams like this one, ISU, and others who don't just play physical defense but they are sneaky about how they do that to avoid getting called.....hence Fran being pissed at the officials for not recognizing and calling those fouls.
On one foul where Chucky H did an exaggerated dry hump on one of our guys he actually got called for it...but usually they are sneakier with their feet/legs getting into the opponents legs, using the body to jar the opponent off balance or affect a shot or pass, and then using hand checking in a way that they didn't get called when ISU did get called for it. Then, to me, they are notorious for the people like Brad D (nut puncher) and you see similar tactics from others-just not as blatantly dangerous as Brad D.
Good example....I forgot about that play. I think that was Tony? He was pissed. That's the type of play that makes a player think for a split second the next time they go up for a rebound.....and that is the objective of their style of defense....getting in the oppositions head in a variety of ways that takes them out of their game.I agree. 100% true. They obviously work on throwing cheap shots without getting caught. It is a skill that is taught. I thought Hawks responded with toughness but didn't lose their cool.I think you see teams like this one, ISU, and others who don't just play physical defense but they are sneaky about how they do that to avoid getting called.....hence Fran being pissed at the officials for not recognizing and calling those fouls.

Problem is they aren't accountable to anyone in any meaningful way.It will only change when officials realize that they're being made fools of,... That's what finally shut Davison down.
Or they can start hooking arms because apparently its not going to be acknowledged by the officials even after a review in which it was obvious.Iowa could use an enforcer type. Bill Lambier or Jim Loscotoff type to put into game when the refs let it get physical. Spelling police feel free to correct the names.
It was the last game you idiot.2 days later and we're still in yore heads. Thanks for the schadenfreude.
So, you don't see any of the "dirty" stuff that opposing fans see, when they watch Wisconsin play? It is often stuff that would result in a lot pushing, shoving and yelling, if it were done in a pick up game. You don't undercut guys. You don't grab and pull a guy down. You don't use your elbows to clear space or send a message... At least I have only seen one Badger player who liked to whack opponents in the crotch.2 days later and we're still in yore heads. Thanks for the schadenfreude.
They did the same thing earlier to Filip. And the hook and hold CMac complained about did happen, but Little Larry wasn't going to call that against the Badgers.I agree. Been saying for years that top level men's college b-ball deserves professional officials like the NBA. Along with pay, you get the most intense and regular performance assessment. The NBA's not perfect, but their officials and management of officiating is far ahead of the NCAA.Problem is they aren't accountable to anyone in any meaningful way.
Supposedly they do video reviews with the ncaa but those are obviously a joke because the same guys are terrible every year.
There is no way a guy like Scirato should be allowed to be a college level official. His presence is proof of a lack of serious oversight.
This hooking shit would never fly in the nba because they keep their officials in line with what's best for the product.

Its way past time for professional officials but the only thing the ncas cares about is remaining as inconspicuous as possible so they can continue to make their millions for doing basically nothing.Been saying for years that top level men's college b-ball deserves professional officials like the NBA. Why I like DJ Carstensen. He lets the guys play, but seems to see and call the dirty stuff better than most.Been saying for years that top level men's college b-ball deserves professional officials like the NBA. Lol at the Wisconsin fan on an Iowa board. What a cool guy you are!2 days later and we're still in yore heads. Thanks for the schadenfreude.
Probably why Howard punched that coach last yearAgreed Gard and wisconsin are dirty
You guys are offended by physical play. It’s weird. There was nothing dirty about last nights game. Maybe they shouldn’t jump on Chucky’s back or hump Crowl’s leg like a dog. Or put their arm where it doesn’t belong. You guys are watching the game through black and yellow glasses. There is literally nothing there. Unless there’s a nut punch or eye poke play the **** on.So, you don't see any of the "dirty" stuff that opposing fans see, when they watch Wisconsin play? Crean flipped out because he’s a nut.Wisconsin suckers you into taking bad shots, and if they can get a five point lead, they slowly crush the life out of you over the next 25 minutes.
It's tedious AF, and I imagine frustrating as all get out for opposing teams and coaches.
Other than juwan the bitch boy slapping that fat headed assistant coach, I think crean flipped the f out on Bo one year too.
Nobody likes playing against that style but you have to admit -- it wins.
There is never a reason for a player under the basket on a rebound to bend over and back up - that is not blocking out. It is an attempt to undercut the opponent. It happened twice in the game and Hepburn was called for a foul on one.You guys are offended by physical play. It’s weird. There was nothing dirty about last nights game. It's ok because Howard explained he was raised on the south side of Chicago where this type of behavior is the norm.Probably why Howard punched that coach last year
Don't forget the team manager game, tooIowa 24 Wisconsin 10.
