Isaiah Johnson-Arigu commits to Iowa

I dunno man... he was averaging spot minutes for a 4-10 Miami team. Don't expect an immediate All American. I really do like that with him, Thelwell, Traore and Tadjo there seems to be an emphasis on athleticism recently.
Appeared in 8 games. High for minutes was 11 (against Tennessee). High for points was 4 (against Coppin State).

Lots of good offers out of high school, and looks like some great athleticism.

Lot of forwards coming in next year, along with Diakite and Briscoe.

Is this real? We were recruiting him and he was a 4 star recruit (#125 ranked) last year.
I know there are no actual NCAA rules anymore, but since his coach stepped down in the middle of the season, couldn’t there be a case to be made for him to have immediate eligibility? Lol.

I wonder if basketball is starting to have more NIL funds to play with. What a weird but nice surprise.

He can practice immediately but can't play until next season.

Fran said F you all I'm going to try now!!!
I wouldn't necessarily say with all certainty that Fran will be back just because of this.
Maybe it's part of his parting gift to Iowa.
We still need to go in a different direction. That being said this doesn't seem the type of player Fran targets, so its odd to see this kind of athleticism come here

Now get a point guard of consequence, and assuming Owen Freeman and Josh Dix stay put, Iowa might have a decent squad next year.

At least we’re trending in the right direction for skin pigment, @curtisj157!

I think he's operating like if he does come back he will have a solid roster still. I don't think he knows either way yet.

I wouldn’t read too much into that. Miami was paying a bunch of players big money. I’m sure Larranaga was feeling a lot of pressure to squeeze as much production as possible out of their high-priced players. Big boosters don’t want to be shelling out millions of dollars to see their investments riding the pine.

Yes, we need a solid point guard and, also, our front court needs a complete enema. Going the right direction, however. Our b-ball team needs to look more like a group on “Soul Train” than an a cappella group at a suburban coffee shop open mic night.

It’s comical to me how posters here made up the rumor that Fran wants to leave after this year and then treat it likes it’s a fact.

Yes, it looks like Fran is tired of people bagging on his lack of defense and trying to upgrade with guys who are more athletic who can keep their guy in front of them. Is he trying to change the perception of the program?
