I believe 247Sports first reported that he's in the transfer portal and now Jeff Goodman is saying he is indeed transferring and will be eligible to play elsewhere immediately.

Yikes, was really hoping he would stick around especially with Cook gone. Hope Joe is ready for the challenge...

I can't help but feel that Isaiah has been getting bad advice. First the NBA stunt last season, and now this. Isaiah, you started on a Big Ten team and played in the NCAA tournament with nearly everyone returning... What more do you need? I do not feel like this is in his best interests, and that someone around him thinks they can benefit off of him.

Not good! I can only think of three possibilities here. He is all of a sudden incredibly homesick and wants to transfer closer to home. There is somebody waiting in the wings that is going to gobble up his minutes. Or there's some internal strife.

Two of those three would not be good. And I cannot see anyone taking his minutes. At least not very many. The only current person on the team I could see doing that would be CJ. And he would really have to be tearing it up and practice...

Who cares about starting. He was on a short leash & rarely closed out games.

Isaiah Moss to Transfer

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa head men's basketball coach Fran McCafferyannounced Thursday that redshirt junior Isaiah Moss has submitted his name in the NCAA transfer portal with the intention of departing the Hawkeye basketball program.

"Isaiah has expressed his interest in transferring," said McCaffery. "Isaiah has been a valuable member of our program the last four years. We appreciate Isaiah’s contributions and wish him good luck in his future endeavors.”

Moss (6-foot-5, 208 pounds) started all 35 games last season, ranking fifth in scoring (9.2), second in steals (32), and fourth in assists (62). The Chicago native played in 102 games as a Hawkeye, totaling 906 points, 229 rebounds,153 assists, 73 steals, and 27 blocked shots.

“I would like to thank my teammates and coaches, and all the fans for being there for me,” said Moss. “The last four years have been a great experience.”

This one was real obvious...better question is, who do we get to fill his scholarship for the coming season. Losing Dailey and Cook was fine, kind of expected, but now I see a need to get someone in this year that can help out, otherwise we might be blowing a potentially really good season.

That's the point. The only place where he can close out games with his consistency is the Missouri Valley. If he thinks he can start at Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. he's in for a huge surprise. Does he transfer to Cal to be with Francis? He may close games there, as they went 8-23 last year, but that move makes no sense from a competitive standpoint.

To me, he's doing this to transfer to a program so he can "showcase" his offensive skills and maybe get drafted, but he's not going to get drafted. His bball IQ is too low, his foot speed is too slow, and he struggles to stay aggressive throughout games.

Gotta think his dad has something to do with this. He was trying to "promote" Isaiah a while back. Putting up posters on the streets of Chicago, etc.

It may not be the worst thing.

With Toussaint inbound, JaBo will absorb more minutes at SG. Wieskamp can also play some SG with PMac at SF.

Connor is flexible to fill in at PG and SG.

Fredrick is an unknown but could provide more depth at SG.

P Mac, J Bo, Joe T, Joe W, CJ, C Mac. IMO we have enough depth to withstand this loss. Moss has had a year to see CJ and P. Mac has been around the team enough for them to evaluate the potential pecking order. Moss would have definitely gotten minutes, but his role may have been reduced.

Moss was very up and down. If you remember the 3 in regulation against Tenn you’re in one camp. If you remember the bad shots in O/T you’re in another. I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes, but I doubt it has much impact on our results next year.

Can Cook come back so we have a chance at a winning season?

This is f***ing ridiculous. It's like Iowa, and its players, have become conditioned to be afraid of success.

First it's always coming up short in close games just to get to the big games.....then it's always coming up short in big games......if it's not that its players getting hurt and never getting on track.....if its not that its players transferring and new players having to step in earlier than expected or with no experience.....or now like we're seeing more than ever before at Iowa, players turning pro early and forcing Iowa to move players up earlier than expected, and usually with guys who with all due respect, aren't as good (maybe yet) that very next year.

It's one f***ing thing after another to keep Iowa from putting everything together for a season to actually build something successful........and f***ing sustain it.

This is why our fans make it a point to be our own worst critics. Iowa cannot get out of their own f***ing way.

Many blacks here in St . Louis metro are becoming MAGA supporters. Black unemployment was 13-15% from 2010-2016 now it’s under 5% in St. Louis metro. You just couldn’t resist bringing politics in to this could you. Stupid.

People who push politics into absolutely everything are the worst. Let us enjoy our damn Iowa sports in peace and GTFO with that nonsense. I don't care who you voted for, I don't care who you hate. I don't need this shit here. There's enough of it everywhere else.

This is a PSA for everyone.

Agreed. I just wonder why you made this response to MY post and not to the poster who first brought politics into this discussion.

I was half-expecting this. Playing time would have gone down again next year. Best of luck!
Not terribly unexpected in my opinion.

I wonder if Toussant jumps up, pushing Bohannon to the 2 spot for more time?

Obviously, way too early to know all the details, but with several changes there will be lots of speculation for a few months.

I think that probably had a lot to do with it.

yeah, the short leash and not closing games probably bothered him. He didn't improve much on his handles/dribble drive in 4 years on campus, he wasn't going to become a star as a senior.

Fran has an issue recruiting/keeping on campus African american players. I'm sure a lot of posters will disagree and don't care, but most elite players are African American, so not being able to recruit/retain that ethic group doesn't bode well for competing for B1G title someday.

Agree on JBo at the 2. Joe T is getting PT immediately. Defense and ball handling will be VERY welcome

I think most coaches would have trouble with this in Iowa.

Connor as SG would require him to increase his 3pt shooting percentage by >2X. Could happen. Might not happen.

Maybe there's an incoming transfer that would maybe get some of Moss' minutes? Just spitballing but I know coaches have year end meetings with players and perhaps Moss didn't like what he heard.

Who knows but I suppose the reasoning will leak out at some point. It usually does in the social media age.

He wasn’t even much of a shooter in HS. Good player overall, but shooting was never his forte.
Yea.. I think its painfully clear to me they're wanting JBo at the 2 more.. with some sort of CMac/JT combo at 1. He will still get time at the point but will all be game flow dependant.

Moss is a good kid and will do awesome at a mid major.. but this transfer isn't something that should upset people, imo

Cant wait for next year!
