ISU Board

I liked the part where the guy was standing in front of the tunnel with the banner that said "Choose Greatness." He was having trouble deciding. Then, when he decided that he did not want to be a clown, a big smile came over his face. Great video!!

Making fun of a cancer survivor. Stay classy

Hate to admit it. I'm a lifetime Hawk who actually likes the 'Clones too, and always wishes them the best (though I don't ever want to lose to them). And I have great hopes for the Campbell era. But this video, despite its best intentions...sad. Sad on so many levels. I get where they were trying to go...but ... sad.

I wonder if MAC teams even get excited when they beat Iowa anymore
Whoops! UNI's a whole other level lower than MAC schools. You probably didn't know that though. You probably think the MVC is a Power 5 conference! Since you've lost to about every team in that conference.

Are you more nervous for your FCS opponent of your MAC opponent this year?

If Iowa runs the table they're going to the playoffs. If they're a 1 loss team with a Big Ten West schedule they're probably not going to be one of the top 4 teams remaining since they won't have many impressive victories

Exactly how do you know this? A 12-1 Big Ten Champion will have a better shot at a playoff slot than a 11-1 or 11-2 non champion from the SEC or any other conference for that matter.

Where is their recruiting class ranked 46th?
ISU's average star rating per recruit is 46th right now. It's not that hard. Just because ISU has signed a bunch of kids, right now, in the recruiting process, compared to other schools, doesn't mean your recruiting class is really better than those other schools. If you want to get into rankings, and not sound like an idiot, use the average star rating in 99% of cases.

For example, you have 19 recruits (one 4 star, 13 3 stars), and ranked higher than MSU who only currently has 16 total recruits(three 4 star, 13 3 star). ISU will be lucky to stay in the top 40 when it's all said and done, similar to Iowa staying in the top 30.

It is still the, right now, the best class they have ever had. So while it isn't elite. I can understand why they are excited about it. I don't think they hang on to everyone though because I don't see them being very good this year. Further, they look like they are taking guys with academic risks. They had a few that didn't make it last class because of academics and already one in this class, Vance, is said to have academic problems. I don't blame them for doing that though.

I'm not saying they can't be excited, nor do I care what their feelings are about it, what I'm saying, is that it's actually the 46th best recruiting class, based off of star rating, which actually tells the whole story of a recruiting class. It's a bit like bragging, when you are leading after the one mile mark in a marathon. I agree on the riskiness of some of their recruits though.

You will receive much the same treatment on the Nebraska board should you venture over there.
Correct, I got banned on Nebraska's board when they were ripping the Hawks and I replied that Nebraska fans were living in the past, the Cornhuskers hadn't won anything since last century. As far as Iowa State, I went to school there for a year, and that was time I won't get back, so I don't feel any need to venture to there board. :)

Not to make light of cancer (or any other chronic disease or condition), but just because a person has survived cancer doesn't make them untouchable. No one's making fun of his cancer or his battle, just of the cheesy video production. The comment has absolutely zero connection with who he is or his own history. I actually have no clue who he is or that ISU had a cancer survivor on the team. I'm glad that he's been able to forge an apparently successful athletic career after going through such a traumatic ordeal. However, that doesn't mean he can't still do something silly and have people get a chuckle out of it.

As I finished this, I see David already replied. I decided to go ahead and post this because I wanted to fully express my feelings on it.

Which is where that extra non-conference game against an upper tier program would come in handy, if Iowa were to win. Glad you understand.

I hope that was a volunteer video and not paid staff. Wow, the scripting was weak sauce and I didn't get it..at all. Either have some camp footage and/or mix in highlights from last year, oh wait...none from the latter.

So I got banned from their board. I responded in a thread related to what happens if the conference implodes. There is a consensus there that if push comes to shove the SEC will take the Clones. I simply responded that the SEC, which only cares about football and money/TV's, would have zero interest in a school that has its best arguments based on basketball and academics. Williams banned me. Unreal. So sad and pathetic. The funniest thing is they rip our schedule and they are the main reason pundits rip us.
Link?

Everything. Nothing gets me more excited for game week than watching someone watch game film, or watching someone throw 95 pounds over his head with yellow and red eyes.
Not sure they made the video to get Hawkeye fans excited for the ISU season. The same way ISU fans wouldn't be excited seeing a video of historic Kinnick Stadium, the team carrying off Floyd of Rosedale, or Rose Bowl participant rings.

That guy just beat serious cancer and thus it was played into the plot.

I think like most Hawk fans I don't like playing ISU because we have so much to loose and not much to win but It's good for the state. It makes no difference to our schedule because if we win all of our games were on top. Scheduling big name schools pre season may excite some fans but I'm old enough to remember when we did and how it killed the program. Sorry but Iowa isn't in the middle of recruiting grounds where we'll have the kind of talent to do this every year.

Pretty scripted and lame. Better than the one with the coach falling asleep at a table but not much. They should have mixed in some highlights.....never mind. Scratch that idea.

Highlights for isu consist of a series of snapshots. Some are even in color.

I am sorry but I am tired of justifying this ISU game. It is not good for the "State" it is good for Iowa State only. It does zero for Iowa. There is all risk and no reward. Look at the schedules now coming out from other schools. They are willing to to take a risk of a loss against a decent program. The ISU game does not help with recruiting, ISU is a bottom feeder, and unless Iowa wins by 50 we lose ranking. I don't know what some of you are thinking honestly.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. Obviously they didn't make it for Hawk fans, but what in that video would make an ISU fan excited about ISU football?

If there was a hype video of CJ watching game film or Jaleel throwing weights over his head with black and gold eyes I'd be saying the same thing.

If you don't follow Clown football how was that fact conveyed in the video?
Not sure why a person would watch or care if they weren't an ISU fan. Maybe people seek out hype videos for other schools and I'm just behind the times.

I just watched the hype video on BHGP and obviously hype videos are subjective to the fan base. Watching a bunch of old highlights of the 80's, two Drew Tate sightings, tons of video of a coach that hasn't been there for 18 years, and a sprinkling of fans tailgating wouldn't do much for me. To each their own, I guess.

It is no good for either school. Both schools could benefit from more relevant match ups in non-conf. There is zero recruiting advantage to the winner because the state of Iowa turns out so few recruits.

if that video was not some type of a joke, or a parody of some sort, then someone needs to be fired. That was awful. WTF was with the guy jumping into the tackling dummies?......it was just bad

I remember how awesome the preseason 2010 video was. I know 2010 turned into a big, steaming turd, but that video was AWESOME. Man that got me pumped up. Anyone have that one?
