As a Hawkeye fan living outside the state of Iowa, I can confirm that no one cares about this except the KSU & ISU fans and around 17 to 22 fans in this board.
The Iron Bowl was on at the same time and we are talking about a game that decided the middle of the pack in the B12?
Here's another way to look at whether you should question poor officiating in the grand scheme of a game.....Publicly bitching about officiating calls, whether it be the AD, home announcers, or the like, never turns out well and most everyone knows it. I can understand the frustration but you can also point to numerous opportunities that were missed that would have made questionable calls a non factor.
When you are ISU, with no tradition, and you hire new coaching staffs every 3-5 years... you aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt. Get some stability in your athletic dept. and see what happens.
And in reference to MC letting the recently arrested player play... that Dantonioesque.
That's all
This is true. As for the last sentence, based on what I’ve read, I thought maybe he wouldn’t start but didn’t think he’d be suspended. Crime was tantamount to littering with intent. But there could be more to it. We gsven’t seen yet how Campbell deals with getting crosswise with the gendarmes.Publicly bitching about officiating calls, whether it be the AD, home announcers, or the like, never turns out well and most everyone knows it. Actually, they most definitely did. If they let the PI call stand, KSU doesn’t get the ball again unless ISU fumbles. It's part of the game. None of those calls changed the outcome of that game.
No, I don't think anybody said anything about the officiating after the Iowa game. I certainly didn't.
It is true that we tend to bitch about the officiating a lot.
On the other hand, we have received formal letters of apology, and the officials have been disciplined, on at least two (and I think three) occasions in the past, so it isn't all imagination.
And today was the worst start-to-finish screwing I have ever seen. I never accused officials of being corrupt -- and I am not saying that now, because I simply don't believe it. But they were definitely biased. In the fourth quarter, the official on the play called major penalties on KSU. On each occasion, the officials huddled -- no review or anything like that -- and announced there was no penalty. Never seen anything like it.
Agree. Besides, I watched the TCU/ISU game and ISU was holding all game long and never got called for it while TCU couldn't run a series w/o a penalty. You win some and lose some due to calls and non calls.
I've blame refs many of times for some reason but if the refs were against ISU why would they throw the flag in the 1st place and then pick it up. I'm guessing they really thought they were doing the right thing
It would take a hell of a lot more than them winning to make this Iowa team look better. Were ISU fans whining about the officials after we made the plays to win that game? It does get boring that ISU fans always blame the officials for a loss. If you don't want the refs to make a call or non-call that impacts the outcome, just score more points than the opponent. I actually wish they would of won as it makes us look better.
No, unfortunately it's part of the game. Which is to say, you might not like it, but ISU should have never been in a position to lose. Iowa got royally hosed against Northwestern last year, and once badly against Florida. Guess what? In both games they had opportunity to not be in that position. Bad calls are part of the game, and very, very rarely ever are the cause of the outcome.
It is what it is.ISU is 7-5, and had a tremendous season. Iowa is 7-5, with young players, and needs to figure out who plays LB next season.

Big XII doesn’t do good bowls. Except the Alamo and we won’t get that.A lot of truth all around here. The games you mentioned and Michigan back in like 2006 or something. Think it was the last Iowa game Dave witvoet ever did. That one was awful.
Anyway. I didn’t see the game so can’t comment. But if they got screwed, I really feel for them. Know how it feels. I can get over losses pretty quick anymore, with the exception of feeling like you were screwed over. Pisses you off when refs get in the way.
I also agree with good season for isu. They had some great wins and a pretty good football team this year. Probably get themselves a pretty solid bowl game to top it off.
Stanley would still throw it behind them at knee level.Damn isu has some receivers, Stanley probably dreams of having a set like they have.
Um, what? Do you mean that if said receivers were wearing an Iowa jersey, they’d just drop it anyway?Stanley would still throw it behind them at knee level.
Funny how 7-5 is a great year for the clones and disappointing for the Hawks. That's all
Just a question, what does your last paragraph have to do with this topic? Or is that just something that needs to be stated on a daily basis?I have been an Iowa fan my entire life, enduring 17 straight non winning seasons and many other atrocities. However, I'm an Iowan, born and bred, and would rather see ISU win rather than that trailer trash school from Manhattan, KS.
Iowa State got today's game stolen from them by the officials. I can't recall so many flags get picked up late in a game and waved off. The last one was especially terrible as Lazzard was mugged and is the true case of pass interference.
Nepotism reared its ugly head again as Sean Snyder was flagged for unsportsman like conduct but his dad will see to it he gets the head job soon.
I've blame refs many of times for some reason but if the refs were against ISU why would they throw the flag in the 1st place and then pick it up. I'm guessing they really thought they were doing the right thing
Because when ref calls a penalty on the head coaches son, it is nepotism...according to one of our jackass fans.Just a question, what does your last paragraph have to do with this topic? Or is that just something that needs to be stated on a daily basis?
hmmm, OK......Because when ref calls a penalty on the head coaches son, it is nepotism...according to one of our jackass fans.
Not really. It was better than expected for one and worse than expected for the other. Iowa has the stronger football program. You must not read the message boards much.Funny how 7-5 is a great year for the clones and disappointing for the Hawks.
of the PI/other calls that were controversial
