ISU latest recruit

Wait. We shouldn't judge the kid but we can judge if the program is a mess...as opposed to someone just cleaning it up?

I'm all for giving a kid a chance, like Iowa did with Hubbard or whatever his name was. Which we've taken grief from Clones for that, far too unevenly.

My problem with this is that State seems determined to take anybody they can get, repetitively, and taken on the whole it appears that it isn't because State sees itself as some rehabilitation program, but is trying to win games anyway they can.

Bottom line. It isn't the kid I'm complaining about...it's Iowa State. Folks HAVE come to expect that ANY player who gets kicked off his current team is a candidate for Iowa State, haven't they? Turns out, again, that those folks are right.

I think Iowa State TAKES chances. And has used up any consideration of otherwise.

This makes no sense.

If I had to guess it's weed. Same thing happened with Calvin Godfrey at ISU a few years ago - 3 game suspension, 5 game suspension, then you are automatically booted from the team on 3 failed drug tests in a year.

To me it's not a huge deal, but I do hope he can stop it. Korie Lucious basically got kicked out of MSU for the same reason and had a good year at ISU and got his degree. Talley already has his.

I'm basically at the point in life where I don't really care too much about this, but care a ton about people with violence their past. Wasn't a fan of ISU bringing in Lang for the football team for example.

Im an Iowa State fan. I don't care if dude got suspended 3 times. Probably for smoking pot. He also never got arrested or had any legal problems at all. Graduated in 3 years. Has two years to play. I spent 6 years in the Marines. Busted down in rank several times for Jackassary. College kids be college kids. They are not perfect. Then again Message board posters are perfect. I forgot.

I agree with most of what you say and let me add it stinks that college players get used so much while college basketball makes tons of money.

But I will point out that like 'em or not, rules are rules. I wish you and Cool Hand Luke there all the best

Andy - not at all. I think this is great for the kid. I was only stating that when Iowa got a recent running back transfer who was a 3 year graduate and honor roll student an ISU person called him a "thug."

That's because people are idiots. KU fans used to make fun of Iowa State because of transfers. Now they took in as many transfers as Iowa State did. Iowa fans are against grad transfers, well until there football team took one. I think it's all dumb. If a kid wants to go to your school and qualifies. Take him if he can play. Minus any domestic assault charges or anything bad like that.

I like how when someone runs afoul of the law and gets in trouble when they are young (or even later in life) they dismiss it by saying everybody does this. No, everyone does NOT do this. In fact, most don't. This idea that "you can't keep kids from drinking, smoking weed or breaking the law"is complete bs. Most kids don't get in trouble. Actions have consequences.

"CALL FRED FIRST" protects you while smoking pot. Does Prohm have the same deal with the Ames police, I wonder?

Fred didn't want to know so as to the player's not get arrested, he would want to know to make sure they got punished. He handed out a lot stronger punishments than Fran so Iowa fans have no room to talk. You all sound like Dems, Republicans are guilty until proven innocent.

Who got in trouble with the law?

Yes, most often when a player is suspended for "violating team rules" or something ambiguous, it's like failing a drug test or something similar. Not a huge deal for sure. Could it be a problem? Certainly if he runs afoul of the law for it, but that's up to the kid.

Right, because conservatives took the whole "innocent until proven guilty" view of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. Good call.

I would ask you to cite an example under Fran's tenure in which any Iowa player has had serious legal/conduct issues that would merit serious consequences that didn't receive them (Hubbard was dismissed), but after reading that first sentence it is obvious that you are one) barely literate and two) an idiot.

So I won't waste my time. Get lost.
