Reports are that Jake Campos (SP?) (I have no idea who he is ) broke his leg and will possibly be out for the season. Additionally there is rumors that another O lineman rolled ankle on the first play from during their annual scrimmage Today. I've been told this Campos guy is their best lineman. I find it too bad for many reasons one of which I would rather beat them full strength. Never good when a kid gets hurt. I'm told that their offensive line was pretty sketchy to begin with.

Campos is not only their best lineman, he happens to be their left tackle and the only OL with any experience to speak of. Will be a major loss for them.

Iowa needs to get out of the ISU series - maybe being historically bad this year will bury ISU enough for them to go full Kansas and make it politically feasable for them to be dropped.

My prediction of an old fashioned Hayden beatdown of the clownies is coming more true every day. I feel bad for the kids getting injured, but I'm looking forward to seeing a score of 59-3.

The only way ISU is not an every year opponent is if the B12 implodes at some point and ISU lands in the MAC. Until then, ISU is here to stay (unfortunately).

Even the fact that they have one of the better offensive trios in the country (Lanning/Lazard/Warren) still won't be enough to overcome how bad that O-line is going to be. True freshman Sean Foster may have to start. Yikes.

I fully expect it to be a close game and us losing to them wouldn't shock me one bit. They will go on to win 1 more game and we will have a 10 win season as long as CJ stays healthy. Although our fans are due to be right for once. Almost every season the posters on here crow about how we are going to blow them out. This is the clown super bowl and they play out of their minds against us. I bet they are wearing Iowa jerseys during practice again.

oh no that sucks.. he is a good player that has the skill and physical traits to play in the NFL some day. good thing for him is that he is not a senior (either jr or soph maybe) so he still plenty career left. I am no cyclone fan but injuries are a whole different beast, and at the end of the day I hope all the kids that pursue college athletics can stay healthy and have a shot at living out their dream. That is a tough loss for ISU if true

Campos was listed at RT. He was the most experienced lineman returning to the offense and will be sorely missed. Never want this to happen to anyone. Hope the recovery is swift and complete.

Not minimizing the injury or the quality of some of ISU's players at all, but I've seen this movie enough to know one thing with near certainty:

Whoever is on the field that day will play the best they can possibly play - sometimes it is enough, and other times it isn't.

It's always our Super Bowl besides 2009 and 2010 right?

Lol at the thought of them being a top trio.
Depends on how you define "top trio." I said "one of the better," which is top 25 material to me. Feel free to name 25 that are better.

Warren rushed for 1300+ yards on 5.9 ypc, while Lazard had 73+ ypg. Both would be the #1 at their position if they transferred to here. Lanning proved to be a quality dual threat quarterback in his limited starting time.

You must be new here. This is the place where it was said that Troy Davis, who is still the only collegian to post back-to-back 2,000+ yard seasons, would be fourth string at Iowa.

Don't really care about ISU, just get the win and move on. Focused on opponents that matter.

Looking forward to the B1G slate is far more interesting & satisfying as a fan.

I thought that until I went to the practice Sat.
We have along ways to go on offense and people might be able to run on our defense.

Don't remember that but do remember people saying he'd never get admitted and/or flunk out at Iowa.
That would have been a defensible claim, albeit probably untrue, and in any case, impossible to "prove" one way or the other. He was a full qualifier out of high school.

Incidentally, his nephew is a junior in high school who already has an offer from ISU, but also offers from pretty much every major program in the country. Darren Davis Jr., looks just like his Dad and uncle.

I remember last year how bad the offensive line was going to be after people watching one practice.
No joke.

I can't believe people still do anything other than notice an individual's talent from these practices. The number of correct season predictions that have been formulated from watching an open practice must be somewhere around zero.

you mean the Darren Davis from Miami, who rivals has listed with 1 offer, which is isu? I guess the other schools have only extended double secret scholarship offers, which don't show up in the recruiting database.

yeah that must be it.

No definition of "top trio" should include 25 teams.

I just don't see how ISU can treat a game like it's the only game that matters and get blown out. Maybe it was the Hawkeyes Super Bowl too those two years?

You can't see how that could happen? ISU sucks at football. Sometimes your best gets beat by 28 points because you're bottom rung trash.

It was a long time ago, so its easy to get it mixed around.....but I do believe it was said that if he were at Iowa, we would be able to get him to string four sentences together during his interviews. Easy mistake to make, don't beat yourself up about it.

I know ISU sucks at football but when they win it's because it's the only game they care about. I don't see how you can get blown out in the one game you care about

This Campos kid was VERY highly sought after 4-star recruit out of WDM Valley. Played in the US Army AA game as a Senior. Make no mistake - we wanted him really bad. Easily the #1 recruit in Iowa that year. Sucks that he didn't enjoy Iowa City. I am pretty sure that he is indeed a RSJR this year. Perhaps he will get another year of eligibility if he is out for the year. He broke in as a starter after about 2 games his RSFR year and has been there ever since. First game as a starter was against Iowa in 2014 and had to play across from Drew Ott. "Welcome to Division 1, kid!" Played well enough for the 'Clones to eek out the win against us at Kinnick. Also - he is seriously smart. 4.0 in high school. Engineering major.

(Full disclosure: I know his dad from his Drake years) YES - I lobbied like hell for the OLINE factory that is Iowa, but "All of his buddies from Valley are going to Iowa State," is what swayed him after he de-commited from Mizzou.

If he had come to Iowa City he would have been the LT last year for sure. It would have been a helluva OLine if he and Pierschbacher would have teamed up. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.

Oh well. Serious loss for the 'Clones.

Iowa got blown out in the Rose Bowl last year. Sometimes caring isn't enough. The obvious fact to back up the idea that The Iowa game means more to ISU than any other is 8-8. That's the record between the two teams since 2000. Then ask yourself who, and by how much, has been the better program in that stretch. Does that difference warrant the series to be tied? I'll let you answer that.

Iowa has been the better program but if you look at the years ISU wins most of the time it's because they're the better team not because of who cares more. Iowa fans just use that as a crutch on why they lose to a terrible football program half the time

Because they were incredibly bad?
