ISU's best lineman out with Broken Leg

I have a friend from Oklahoma that is completely neutral and he thinks the Iowa fans and players want to win the game more than ISU fans. He went with me to Kinnick in 2014 and has been to other games in Kinnick and said he has never seen the fan base like that before.

I still think both teams want to win the game and almost all of the time the better team wins

Except the fact Iowa has natural conf rivals in Minnesota and Wisconsin and now one with Nebraska. And ISU's big 12 rival is who? Sad thing is if Iowa drops isu series they have no rivalry game minus the budding toliet bowl rivalry with Kansas for 9th place. A joke if you think game means more to Iowa. Since Iowa actually plays meaningful games past October most seasons and actually has conference rival games.

Sounds like your buddy hasn't been to kinnick enough as a season ticket holder can think of at least a dozen better game day atmosphere and hyped crowd for game besides 2014 isu in last 10 years.

Kansas State is more a rivalry to Iowa State than Nebraska is to Iowa. Iowa State will play them for the 100th straight year this season, the 8th longest streak in college football.

Sure it is. 2 of the worst teams in college football history battling it out for the 100th straight year. KSU is the only team that the clowns have an overall winning conference record against. Historically, 2 pathetic football programs. But the difference is that KSU fans don't nip at big brothers pant legs all the time. They don't need to. Snyder is a stud. They have won 8 straight against you bunch of losers.

By the way, how did you get the money to go to Kinnick in 2014? Did you borrow money from Mom?

But Iowa is a great rivalry against Nebraska? You guys have only beaten Nebraska twice in the last 33 years.

Yeah, and we've played them so much in that time too. Clue for you - it is a budding rivalry because the game is played at a time of year where it matters for both teams' chances to win the B1G West and get to Indianapolis.

Also, you keep making a fool of yourself on the "Super Bowl" thing. Why don't you focus on other teams as good as Iowa where ISU is 9-8 over the last 17 years? Do you have any other teams where you have a record like that? Super Bowl.

Well since Iowa isn't in the same conference till 5 years ago. Don't play as much. It's a new rivalry with close games since its started in conf play. No one said it was great but good enough both schools decided to have a rivalry trophy at stakes. But in last 33 years isu fans considered Nebraska a rival and only won 4x with 3x as many games played. But funny how you go back 33 not 34 because Iowa had won another game before then.

But no worries with Nebraska gone there is that epic k state isu rival no one ever talks about.

It's not ISU's fault they beat Iowa when they're not good. That's an Iowa problem.

I don't even know who I would compare Iowa to in the Big 12 in terms of success. Texas Tech maybe? Oklahoma, Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU and Kansas State are all better currently or have been better than Iowa under Ferentz. ISU is 6-8 vs Baylor and 18-29 vs Oklahoma State though

When I said Sure it is.......I meant just that. Clowns v. KSU is a bigger rivalry than Iowa v. Nebraska. 2 sucky programs battling it out year after year. Things have changed. KSU now has a good program. Your clowns are still worthless.

The clowns haven't been able to beat Wartburg in the past 33 years. Does that mean Wartburg is a better team? Maybe you should start a home n' home with them. That could be your new rivalry since you are 0-8 against your current big rivalry.

Over KF's history Iowa has 5 Top Ten finishes. How many have Baylor, OSU, Texas, TCU, Texas Tech and KSU had when they have been in the Big 12 during that same time frame?

Athlon rates ISu's uniform as the 7th worst college uniform. That is way over rated as they should easily be in the top 3.

Another reason why Wartburg isn't a rival of Iowa State

From 1984-2014, Iowa is 27th best in the country with a .5796 win percentage.
From 1994-2014, Iowa is 29th best in the country with a .5717 win percentage.
From 2004-2014, Iowa is 29th best in the country with a .5971 win percentage.

Since ISU fans like to bring up the last 17 years (gee, why?) Texas Tech is the closest team to Iowa in the 1994-2014 time period, with a slightly better win percentage at .6092

Iowa State's record against Texas Tech over the last 17 years is: 3-8

I noticed Cole Anderson is listed first on depth chart. Although they don't mention it his father is a retired astronaut who flew on the space shuttle twice and spent like six months on the ISS. I see Clay now and then. One of the reasons he retired was to see his kids play sports(hard to do if you are in space or training at the Russian cosmonaut base in Star City in Kazakhstan).

Lordy, there is a lot of fail in this thread. It reminds me of why I boycotted the rivalry board.

Ahh, I tell ya, having CyCity on ignore is a beautiful thing. Judging from the posts I've read for the last couple pages on this thread, it appears he has been hard at it today. You gentleman have fun!

You're missing out EZ. Guy is making the "Flat earth people" sound stable. He is living proof that you can convince yourself to believe absolutely anything.

That, or he is a fabulous troll. Either is entirely possible.

No, it's nothing like that at all, as anybody with half a brain understands.

This exchange is about whether the better team won when the teams played. It is not whether one team or the other had the better season. In '02, ISU would have won the week before and the week after, but not at the end of the year.
We should probably break this down to halves too, as Iowa was clearly the better team in the first half, until Banks hurt his thumb. :)

Well, every time Iowa does something special. Like end up being ranked in the top ten in the country, several times in the KF era or go to a big time type bowl, you people pull out the weak BIG theory. ISU couldn't go 12-0 in the mac or mountain west. Do something a little bigger than upsetting an instate rival if you want to be noticed.

Actually I agree with your last sentence. But in several of those years Iowa improves through the year and becomes a decent or better team although not always world beaters. It's ISU's fault they don't.

Yeah, it's not like the two teams have ever played in November...

Longevity defines rivalry? ISU has lost 9 out of the last 10 and 22 out of the last 27. I'm willing to bet KSU doesn't consider it much of a rivalry.

Did ISU have a rivalry with Nebraska that included a trophy? NO! Did ISU have an annual trophy game against Nebraska played on Black Friday? NO! Why? Because you are ISU for cripes sakes! Lastly does ISU have a rivalry trophy with KSU? NO! Why? Because Kansas State doesn't take ISU seriously and I'm pretty sure any KSU fan would laugh at any notion of having a school that has not had a conference winning record in over 10 years and only six in the last 35 as a rival. I'm pretty sure nobody cares about ISU in your conference. And nobody really knows anything about you aside from the fact that you are the doormat of NCAA football.

Nebraska has a trophy with Minnesota and Wisconsin and they're not rivals

I guess you might be right except for the Wisconsin and Nebraska Fans may disagree with you..but then again you are an ISU fan and the whole football mileu is likely foreign to you. Then again we do know this, if it weren't for Iowa your horrible program wouldn't have a trophy with anyone. Why? Well, because of the absolutely sad and pathetic state of your football history. Repeat after me only 6 winning regular seasons in the last 35 YEARS! (wow that is bad) and NONE in the last 10. You should get a trophy for that.

The clowns should develop a trophy/rivalry series with Northern Iowa. You could run all around town putting up posters! Maybe they would call it the "CyCity" trophy?

I'll give you that but that was also 40 years ago. Iowa hung up ISU posters 4 years ago and your current coach was the one that did it

And they did it for Minnesota game last year too, what's your point. Funny reading ESPN doing season preview for teams. Look who they considered ISU's most important game, Iowa. Then look at Iowa most important game, Michigan. Everyone outside of Ames knows that ISU game is not the most important game for Iowa every year but more often than not it is for the clones. Plus I've never seen anyone have such a hard on for 2 posters one the size of a notebook page 4 years ago. You are just naive if you don't think ISU has anything posted in their locker room or it was a one time deal for Iowa which has been proven in a previous thread which you so convienantly ignored.

I'm assuming if they hung up Minnesota posters in the football facilities entrance last year someone would have provided proof of that by now instead of just pretending doing it for ISU was no big deal. The one ISU poster they hung up was a regular size poster by the way

We're worrying about conference and division championships here, not about who put up what poster. Good grief, I know its bad but is it really that pathetic in Ames?

If that's the case Iowa would hang up posters of their conference opponents and not just Iowa State. I was told ISU only cares about Iowa because they put a jersey on a tackling dummy so you can't have it both ways

Iowa does put up posters of other teams. You simply want to ignore that.

Iowa cares about ISU game for one week a year. Hence your stupid poster obsession (of one full size and 1 notebook size poster) from game week 4 long years ago. ISU obsession for Iowa more than Iowa week with jerseys, or Pollard's billboard in CR. You see the difference one done the week before the game, the other in spring or fall practices.

And has been proven Iowa has hung up other posters or pics of other teams, hence Minnesota last year but your great deflecting tactics just takes it to front of football entrance. Maybe some have been but we don't get weekly pictures of Iowa's football or ISU practice facility so maybe they have maybe they haven't.

Do you have a link for that?
