It has become a farce

Fran is a clueless coach. Bad subs, doesn't call time outs. He thinks he is some basketball savant and he's not. The only thing he is above average at is inbound plays.

While Fran's subs and TO management are question. It's not Fran's system that is the problem imo, but the players. Can you imagine if we had Purdue's roster? Or Rutgers? We would run teams out of the gym.

What does Fran have to do to get fired? It is not that they are losing a few games. It is his piss poor coaching, substitutions lack of defense and fundamentals. His son stands around on offense, stands around on defense. Just sick of the product and low expectations.

I'm sorry but I cant agree about Pat's standing around on offense. He hops around.

Wow, I just watched the game, and although I see that narrativea lot I disagree. I thought we played decently tonight and didn't see many glaring coaching errors. They killed us from three and the free throw line. I thought the refs sucked and should look for different jobs. Owen has foul issues, but it seems like he's picked on compared to some of the other stuff that is not called. Patrick wasn't perfect but made the must of his minutes. Too many turnovers to win on the road.

They took wide open 3s. Wide open.

Do you not realize that most teams have their best 3 point shooting games against Iowa, why? Poor defense. The coaching errors are his inability to call a time out to break the other team's momentum.....coaching 101. Also, Fran's mind boggling inability to recognize when and how to substitute. Perkins sat on the bench while PSU made their run. And the Refs are seldom a good excuse for losing a game. You are the type of fan that keeps blowing sunshine up Fran's ass and why they don't get rid of him.

True. But to accuse the players of apathy is appalling.

Why? Did you see PMac make the bad pass towards the end of the game and just walk off the court? I don't care if there were only 15 seconds left, you don't quit. It was the basketball equivalent of hitting a grounder and not even bothering to run towards first. That is apathy.

Probably already been mentioned but my favorite play was PMac's desperate one foot pass to Krikke standing right next to him. Krikke promptly gets stripped.

And fans apathy as well.
Considering the Hawks' struggles in Happy Valley and everything else going on this season, I sat this one out completely.

Did something a lot more productive with that 2 hours. Didn't have any holiday lights to take down, but still used the time wisely.

Over 2 million. It's a joke. I think the Iowa State coach is 600- 700k.
Lol
Iowa, bau, settle for mediocrity.
He's 9th highest in the Big Ten. Seems fine to me
None of these numbers are right--you guys know that google is free, right?

Fran makes $3.2 million which makes him the 13th highest paid coach in a 14 team league--only Ben Johnson at Minnesota makes less than him. Just for context, Mike Rhoades who Penn State hired just this last year makes $3.7 million/year so that's the ballpark starting salary for Big Ten schools--even ones who don't really care about hoops.

Otz makes $3 million but that will increase by half a mill every year for the next couple of years, so he will be making more than Fran starting next season.

We really could have used Joey this year. He is definitely undersized, but makes up for with with tenacity.

I really enjoyed JoeT as a player for us because of his on ball defensive intensity. However, when he played for Iowa, Fran had Garza and JBo who couldn't defend in man-to-man and we played mostly zone. Fran's system of not bothering to play defense doesn't value what JoeT brings to the table.

Fran seeks out a Krikke type player in Portal. Krikke gives up a basket just about every time an opposing post player shoots over him in the post and doesn't rebound. When Krikke is hitting shots, sure he can score more than he gives up...however the nature of offense is it is streaky. Defense on the other hand, that is there every game. It is why ISU is having success and Iowa is meh.

I think Nebraska got the better portal center in Rienk Mast than Iowa got in Krikke.

I didn't watch the game as I have become about as apathetic with basketball as I have with football. I realize defense isn't a priority for Fran and the boys, but giving up 89 to Penn State is pretty bad. Woof.

Opened the game shooting like 75% and had a 1 point lead😂. Just so over it and judging by the attendance at carver, so is the fanbase

I keep wanting to be interested again. As soon as that happens, they dump a game at home to Michigan or even worse, to Maryland. Then Maryland loses AT HOME to an awful Rutgers team. Brutal.
