That’s the highly moral media/sports media we have come to knowIf Fran does the same thing Izzo does tomorrow to a player Greg Gumbels comment will be ‘there was an ugly incident in the game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Iowa Iowa Hawkeyes. During a time out the head coach of the Hawkeyes Fran McCaffery went after a player and had to be physically restrained. Clark there’s no place in the game for this behavior.’
Bradley should not have better players than Iowa- but they do. Several other no name schools seem to too
People excused Bob Knight's behavior forever too until he was exposed. Izzo has manufactured a sneaky clean rep for a long time. So did Joe Paterno. We really don't know what these people are like behind the scenes. Izzo may be a great guy or a complete a hole. Tough to gauge from emotions during a game. Can say the same about Fran.
A repeat of a couple previous posts.
Izzo has Final Fours and a NC in his back pocket.
Fran has a reputation. as a hot head.
Beyond that, this illustrates the "pussification" of today's youth. Heaven forbid you raise your voice to a kid or try to challenge them. I'm guessing this player knew what Izzo was like when he signed w/MSU and sees it in practice often.
I love Izzo, and Bob Huggins, and the like.
We often see what we want to see. It doesn’t matter if the object of the hate is a coach or the president. We live in black and white times. There is no place for moderation or consideration.
And so I thought it deserved its own thread. Sorry if anyone is offended.
What a great representative of MSU and college basketball. Izzo looked like he was ready to fight his own player. He got in his face, stuck his finger in the guy's chest, and had to be physically restrained by Winston and another player or two. And he still kept trying to go after the kid during the timeout.
IMHO, that was one of the worst exhibitions I've ever seen by a coach toward his own player. Will there be any repercussions? Seems like there should be. But maybe it's like being president: A winning coach can do whatever the hell he wants without being held accountable.
Yeah, but Izzo smiles when he talks so it's all good; friendly guy.It wasn't that bad? Wow. I didn't know Mrs. Izzo posted on this board.
The only thing Izzo didn't do was punch the kid. If Fran had done the same thing, this board and college basketball would be goin' absolutely insane.
And now Izzo is out on the court going after the BIG player of the year, Winston. The guy is outta control even more than usual, and he goes from a look of a crazy man to one of a baby about to cry.
Wasn't that bad! BS. It was horrible. And they're showing it again right now. Izzo is a basket case. And those are the facts. Like it or don't.
Haven't heard anything like that, silly if true . Why would it get worse? Connor is a good kid who plays hard. Why would other fanbases hate that? I really don't think it is a big deal.I have heard more hate for Connor from other fanbases than any Iowa player in probably a decade. That’s anecdotal, obviously, but I think it will only get worse in the next couple years.
I don't care either. If anything it will earn him more cut-ins. Jeff Capel said that Izzo is "Old School" and didn't have a problem with him getting on his players. It’s more of the double standard than Izzo’s behavior. I don’t think too many of us really care if Izzo yells at a ref or a 22 year old.

I was about to say that - imagine if McCaffery had done that! But since it's Izzo, so far the national guys (Seth Greeneberg, etc) are just saying basically, "Oh that's just Izzo - passionate guy and his players understand and respond to that."If Fran did that, he would be roasted by the media and this board.
If you support a coach disrespecting a player on national TV, then, that's not an attractive quality on your end.Envy is an unattractive quality.

OMG I hope he didn't hurt his feelings......And so I thought it deserved its own thread. Sorry if anyone is offended.
