Jan 6, 2025, 4 years after the Trump led insurrection on the Capitol

I wonder if it would be useful to dredge up some threads from four years ago and see which posters here were cheering on as cops were being beaten.

you should absolutely spend your day doing that. seriously, i can't think of anything more productive

That's like someone raped being blamed for wearing revealing clothing. Terrible analysis.
No, the terrible analogy is comparing someone who chose a bad candidate to being a rapist.

I hate to break it to you, Chis, but there were plenty of Americans not in the MAGA Idiot Brigade who ultimately chose to vote Trump. You and other liberals have two choices: continue to be smug, part of the lunatic fringe, and hateful to others not in lockstep with your point of view, or, you can find a mirror and figure out how to persuade more moderates to your side.

The choice is yours.

That statement has been uttered too much from 2016 to the present day.

At some point, liberals are going to have to look in the mirror and figure out why they keep losing to Trumpism.
Yes, once again lets blame liberals for being in reality. Half the country has been lied to for decades by the Fox News and Rush Limbaughs of the country. Yeah, these wild and crazy liberal ideas, like looking out for the 90% of Americans instead of just the wealthy is such a horrible idea. SMH. Do the democrats need to figure out how to message better? Sure, but the right wing media train isn't coming off the tracks anytime soon. There is NOTHING that the democrats can say that could change the minds of the right wingers on here that you consider to be idiots. NOTHING the democrats can say or do is going to change it. A solid 30% of the country isn't in reality.

Holy shit. You're better than this.

Just amazing, four years later and these fools and useful idiots are still calling it an "insurrection" with absolutely no clue as to what one is. Viva La Trump! Viva Freedom and Democracy the Stalinists are now leaving DC.

Trumpism should have ended on that day…but here we are because half of our electorate has bought into decades of lies.
Not when you have actual GQP representatives saying:

“On #ThisDayInHistory in 2021, thousands of peaceful grandmothers gathered in Washington, D.C., to take a self-guided, albeit unauthorized, tour of the U.S. Capitol building. Earlier that day, President Trump held a rally, where supporters walked to the Capitol to peacefully protest the certification of the 2020 election. During this time, some individuals entered the Capitol, took photos, and explored the building before leaving." GOP Rep. Mike Collins, posting to X

Or if you're GQP Rep Mike Collins, it was "thousands of peaceful grandmothers gathered in Washington, D.C., to take a self-guided, albeit unauthorized, tour of the U.S. Capitol building"

Why does it seem like the biggest loser's whine when other people make money?

The problem isn't D messaging. It's crappy policies.

Fortunately, the worst President's term will be over in 2 weeks.

Not everyone agrees, Tom, with Democrats being the champions of the economy. There’s a reason there is a mass exodus of people leaving New York for Florida or California for Arizona and Texas. So spare me the lecture and virtue signaling.

Yes, the average person sees Trump for what he is and right-wing media for what they are. In the end, enough people believed Trump’s brand of lunacy was favorable to the loony left’s.

Again, it’s not about messaging to the right. It’s about widening the tent to include more moderates. Wheeling out a near vegetable in June then replacing him with someone who has next to no appeal is not a winning strategy, Tom. So, ultimately, it came down to enough voters who decided a Trump administration would at least fix the things they care about. Right or wrong, Team Trump did a better job of appealing to average voters while also pandering to their base fears about the “woke” segment of the liberal base—something they were easily able to attach to Kamala. And, like it or not, it worked.

LOL. Biden is a moderate. Y'all hated him. So SPARE ME the reach out to the moderates bullshit. Not to mention Biden being a vegetable bullshit. That's bullshit. No matter how many times you guys say it. Maybe you're not better than this.

🙄

I voted for Biden, Tom, in 2020. So, again, spare me. I’ve also defended Biden frequently, so you can put that card back in the deck.

YOUR team gaslighted the American people for months that Biden showed no evidence of any type of cognitive impairment whatsoever. Then we all witnessed firsthand just how badly Biden has declined at that summer debate with Trump. The guy is not fine. He’s 82 years old for crying out loud, and he wanted another term?

C’mon, man. And yes, Trump is too old as well. One of many reasons I didn’t vote for him. Regardless, the point still stands. And, again, I am not the one you had to reach.

Unbelievable.

Biden might have been a moderate at some point in time, but his White House handlers are extremists. And most everyone knows they have been running the show.

Tom, I actually tend to agree that Biden is instinctively a moderate at his core; you don't get elected in the mid atlantic for all those years without being so, and of course that's part of the "he's not trump" perception that led to his getting the D nomination in the first place in 2020 relative to others in his party.

But the problem is that he was enfeebled enough to let the foxes guard the henhouse. And the foxes were not moderates. But it's still his henhouse. And the electorate as a whole (or at least, enough of it to matter), viewed it as enough of a whorehouse rather than a henhouse to matter. That's a perception that needs to be addressed, as ragnar notes.

If Biden was running a whorehouse, I'd love to see your descriptor of what Trump was running, and will purposefully run again.
People are selfish. So many voted for Trump knowing he's a raging narcissist who has been an incompetent at everything he's done in life. But, gotta have my tax cut... It might not work out so good for other people, but I'll be okay.

We’ve already had this conversation. You basically said you didn’t have the answers and it’s up to people like me to figure it out. Lol. I can’t answer how we stop rightwing media from lying their asses off to their viewers. KNOWINGLY lying to them. That keeps the country from getting on the same page…just like this one Russian guy wants. You have the right complaints, mostly, but no damn answers until the American public stops being lied to by Trump. Give me a break about gaslighting for Biden. What MAGA leaders do is ACTUAL GASLIGHTING.

Please. What policies did he pass that were radically leftwing? More BS. Some of you don’t actually think logically about what you’re saying. What specific things did he push for that are RADICAL? I do know he asked the Cons what they’re for, and their words rarely match their voting records.
