JBo Postgame

Love me some Jbo. He’s everything Iowa basketball is about. Couldn’t be prouder of the kid, brought us a BTT.
Uhhhhhh...... yeah....

If Iowa basketball were all about being the entitled youngest child of a wealthy family. Dude made some good shots but Joe Weiskamp had more embodiment of Iowa basketball in his quite shooting hand than Jordan is capable of.

Sadly, most will choose to remember Jordan as the "Twitter villain" instead of Jordan as a Hawkeye, who set many school and a few B1G records in his time in an Iowa uniform.

Social media. ugh. Great for breaking & immediate news, but the worst thing ever for everything else.

Quit being a jackass. JBO gave too much to this team for so called fans to be disrespecting him right now.

Well JBO made me cry tonight.
That was hard to watch. Jordan Bohannon made a ton of clutch shots for Iowa, he really did. But the thing that will always stand out to me is DELIBERATELY missing a free throw to remain tied with Chris Street, think what you will about Jordan Bohannon's career or him as a person, but an asshole doesn't do those kind of things IMO.

Thanks for the memories kid.

Thanks for the memories, JBo.

You set records that will never be broken.

You overcame foot and hip injuries.

Losing sucks. It always does. Best wishes to you.

Check this out & Watch:

I’ve cried exactly 5 times as an Iowa fan in my lifetime.

- Beating ISU after Sash and Roy passed away, as the team did the swarm across the field to grab the trophy

- When ESPN did the story about the Iowa Wave

- Greenwood leading the team on the field

- Connor and JBO senior night interviews

- Winning the BTT this year and watching Connor, Fran, JBO, Keegan and the rest of them celebrate with all their emotions and stuff like that.

Now, I have a 6th time. Dammit JBO, I can’t truly appreciate what you’ve given this team. You helped dig them out of a 14-19 slump and have made them contenders. You will be missed. Truly, thanks for the memz.

No they won’t. Twitter is like a leaf in the wind. Here for a moment and gone forever once it passes. It’s the very definition of short attention span theater.

People will remember Jordan for his great career that was derailed by injuries, yet he came back and helped this team win a big ten tournament title. People will remember him for what he did, not for what he wrote on a social media site. Believe that.

I guess my question would be what does a man have to do in his college career to get a tip of the hat? His social media habits aside, the kid fought through two very invasive surgeries to play basketball for our beloved Hawkeyes. Oh and along the way, set records that will never be touched. And to those who sent the vile tripe posted on Twitter, God help them. JBO watching you rain threes from the logo is going to be missed. I wish only the best for you young man.

That is a great question.

In this day and age, I have no idea. Jordan was a great Hawkeye, and it was a missed free throw that cemented it for me. Thank you for the last min heroics and recognizing a record that should never be broken. Best of luck #3!

He set records because he played for 5.5 years. Most people play between 1 and 4 years with the good ones usually being at the shorter end. He had some good moments like not breaking streets record but he also had plenty of selfish moments. He helped the team at times and also hurt the team at times.
a lot of you complain that iowa will never be more then what they are and it’s because you take pride in a guy like Jordan. A guy that’s good but not great. Iowa, and Jordan overcome some obstacles and fail to deliver more then that.

That doesn't change anything I said. Dude gave his all and is in the record books. He is NOT everything Iowa basketball is about. Dude talks more shit in a week than Chris Street did (rip) in his life.
In addition to starting a bar fight just because he thought he could because of who he was, as well as the unsportsmanlike act of leaving his shoes at center court at Hilton. I cringed when I read about both of those acts. Both got his ass kicked. One off and one on the court. Time to move on.

Before Jordan came to Iowa most of us fans just wanted someone that could make big shots with the game on the line.

Devyn wasn't that guy
Gesell wasn't that guy
Neither was Uthoff

Jordan did it more than once...

That I will miss
And Jbo probably gave up more points on defense than all those guys combined.

He was addition by subtraction. If he played at UNI we wouldn't have known the difference. He also ran his mouth a lot more than those guys combined.

I also seem to remember all 3 of the aforementioned making big crucial shots/winners but they didn't have to boast about it because they weren't douches and were grounded. It's always been about Jbo since he has been at Iowa. Uthoff and Marble have NBA experience... Jbo will be podcasting next year telling us how great he was to lead us to the first weekend of the NCAA tourney while playing like garbage.

I’m not going to rag on JBo personally. So many others are doing that already. What I will say is an observation. It seems like he treated the BTT title as a finish line, when he had the potential for six more games to be played. When you go on twitter and start shining the light on the dark corners of humanity that should have just stayed in the dark, just so you could effectively say “I told you so”, it seems like you’ve given up your concentration on the task at hand. When you hit only two shots in your last game and play matador defense, after scoring zero points in what was supposed to be your last college game ever last season, it seems like you weren’t prepared. I think those things compared to his play the last month and a half of the regular season are why he is such a polarizing player for our fanbase.

You can respect the good things he did while at the same time recognize the faults that held him back from greatness. Most of his records are longevity records, which have to have an asterisk next to them. Even his 10 3s in a game is only on the books because of the extra season he was given because of a once a century pandemic.

"He set records because he played for 5.5 years."
This.
Do we need to put an asterisk next to a lot of records? Just because having an extra year, or so, of playing boosts a lot of points in the record books. Not just even his, but all across the board.

You are correct, but good luck convincing the brain drain of this board.

Don't worry, I have a feeling Connor will carry on jbo's legacy of hanging around too long and crying/being cocky on social media next year and as a grad assistant in the years to come. Can't wait🤦🏻‍♂️

Here’s the thing I don’t understand: most Iowa folks hate cocky people, especially those who don’t back it up. Yet, so many on here go to extraordinary lengths to white knight for JBo and Connor. Can you imagine what those same people would say if JBo played for Wisconsin? Think about it.

Exactly. I have said For much of this season I’d take cheap shot Davidson over jbo because Davidson was actually backing up his play. Jbo was running his mouth acting like a tough guy and not doing crap for his team most of the year and was exposed once again yesterday. I’m guessing Davidson will do a little better today but we’ll see.

Say you are dbag without saying you are a dbag. Your post makes me want to punch you in the nuts then knock you out. Jealous much, his family is full of athletes and he's a die-hard Hawkeye. Why are you bringing Weezy into your post when you are dissing Jbo?

His Father was a QB at the University of Iowa FFS. Do we wish all of our former athletes graduate from Iowa and end up homeless? JFC

The home life of an Iowa athlete shouldn't ever enter into the conversation, and yes it's great to see a feel good story of a guy like Tristan Wirfs (for instance), but other than that it doesn't matter. Under your narrative, Tristan Wirfs kids will now be the ones being subjected to "an entitled kid from a wealthy family".

You must have really hated Austin Blythe, a guy who's family has their names on buildings on the Iowa Campus. And he's still working hard enough to be playing in the NFL, where by the looks of things he had it made regardless of how hard he worked.

There's plenty of reasons to dislike Jordan Bohannon if you so chose, but the financial status of his Family isn't one of them, and that's a fact, not just my opinion.

Relax man. I have nothing against him or his family having money. I'm saying his background does not match the embodiment of traditional Iowans. Think about the adjectives we use to describe the typical Iowa football player, and how that salt of the earth personality resonates with us through good times and bad. Jordan is a great basketball player but you know damn well he does not represent those humble traits we find endearing. He in no way represents the average, humble, Iowan. I hope the guy makes a million bucks a year doing whatever, he is not on the top 10 list of anyone I would point to as what a typical Iowa basketball player represents.

Not that any of this really matters but, you can come from a wealthy family and be humble. So if witfs has kids, they won’t automatically be an entitled kid from a wealthy family.
Blythe has come from from a wealthy family and I’m guessing worked harder then jordan and also wasn’t spouting off about any and everything like jordan has.
I don’t dislike jordan because he came from a wealthy family but I’m guessing him being raised the way he was because of family wealth is part of my dislike for him.

I think the entire team took the Big Ten Tournament title as the finish line. They all looked like they expected Richmond to be a pushover; didn't take them seriously at all.
If we make two of those missed 3s we win that game. Live by the 3. Die. By the 3. It just wasn't our day.

He did play 5.5 years, but some of those records were broken within a comparable amount of games as others players (or had he only played 4 years, he would have been high on a lot of those record books). And the percentages (free throws, and 3 point), as still impressive. He gave us some great moments, and some not so great ones. Pretty dang good for an unheralded Iowa kid.
