JBo Postgame

He did play 5.5 years, but some of those records were broken within a comparable amount of games as others players (or had he only played 4 years, he would have been high on a lot of those record books). And the percentages (free throws, and 3 point), as still impressive. He gave us some great moments, and some not so great ones. Pretty dang good for an unheralded Iowa kid.
He was a good player and also played on some teams that had a lot of offensive fire power. Had he been on a team that focused on defense, he probably wouldn’t be playing much at all. He put up points and had assists to other great players but he also gave up a ton of easy baskets.
he’s kinda like a gambler that loves to brag about how much money he wins but never mentions the fact that he loses just as much money as he makes.

JBo certainly had some poor defensive games, but it was never for lack of effort. And I think it is delusional to think he gave up more points than he scored in his career.

Relax man. I have nothing against him or his family having money. I'm saying his background does not match the embodiment of traditional Iowans. Think about the adjectives we use to describe the typical Iowa football player, and how that salt of the earth personality resonates with us through good times and bad. Jordan is a great basketball player but you know damn well he does not represent those humble traits we find endearing. He in no way represents the average, humble, Iowan. I hope the guy makes a million bucks a year doing whatever, he is not on the top 10 list of anyone I would point to as what a typical Iowa basketball player represents.

Throwing the BS flag. No one brings up the family having money unless their opinion is being skewed by the family having money. Hell, I didn't know his family had two nickels to rub together until you posted he comes from a family with money and I don't care. Take that lame-ass class war BS elsewhere. Freaking pathetic.

Well you let that flag fly buddy.

No. Do you think Jordan's on and OFF the court behavior is a good representation of who we are as iowans or what the basketball program represents?
Why do you care so much? Do you feel like Jordan represents you? Has anything he’s ever said or done off the court impacted you in any way?

Yes. Hard-working overachiever who has overcome a lot of adversity (physical pain and verbal abuse from fans) and occasionally drinks too much sounds very Iowan.
Then you and I disagree. Iowans bump into people and say "oops, sorry" even when it was the other guys fault, not berate a meter maid. Iowans buy the bride and groom a drink, they dont even know, not throw their drink at them. Iowans say shit like "scoreboard" and work harder, not blast people on social media. We can agree to disagree.

Yeah and you’ve spent the entire thread (which was supposed to be a positive one) criticizing him. I’m not white knighting for him. I disagree with plenty of things he’s done. Apparently the difference between you and I is that I’m capable of keeping my disagreements to myself

You are certainly hung up on the meter maid (not proper nomenclature) thing. How do you know he doesn't routinely open the door for strangers, or say "sorry" when bumping into people? Your consistent projection of his overall conduct because he's a relatively outspoken drinker is curious. I know I saw some outstanding conduct surrounding the Chris Street free throw thing, that was extremely Iowan, no?

I have mentioned the meter maid twice (?) Now. I don't give a shit if he drinks like a fish. Yes the Chris Street thing was admirable. We can agree to disagree.

I forgot about the parking ticket fiasco. Another notch in the wood for the Jbo entitlement facts.

People here can be in denial about his character because he could make 40% of his 3 pointers. Bottom line... dude needs some humbling. The punch didn't appear to do it, maybe yesterday did.

Does his family encourage this self absorbing behavior? Or are they indifferent. I'm embarrassed for him and I just watched him shoot a ball. For a kid/man going to be 25 in a few months... He has a lot of growing up to do.

He set records because he played for 5.5 years. Most people play between 1 and 4 years with the good ones usually being at the shorter end. He had some good moments like not breaking streets record but he also had plenty of selfish moments. He helped the team at times and also hurt the team at times.
a lot of you complain that iowa will never be more then what they are and it’s because you take pride in a guy like Jordan. A guy that’s good but not great. Iowa, and Jordan overcome some obstacles and fail to deliver more then that.

Not great, huh?

All that being said I still didn’t want him back. Fran struggles with big benches and pulling his favorites.
those stats encompass half the game. He was a perimeter pg that could not penetrate.

You are correct, but good luck convincing the brain drain of this board.

Speaking of brain drain and total ignorance, you were the one who was all giddy after beating Alabama State, wondering if this year's teams was better than last year's team. But that's par for the course with you; you overreact when we win and you REALLY overreact when we lose.

And speaking of overreacting when we lose, as soon as Iowa lost yesterday, you started a thread bashing JBo and Connor. You just couldn't wait for that next Iowa loss so that you could post that thread, could you?

And you are the one who still doesn't understand what JBo and Connor brought to the table and why they played. Instead, you ignorantly bash them, especially after a loss.

Why are so ignorant when it comes to sports?

Here’s the thing I don’t understand: most Iowa folks hate cocky people, especially those who don’t back it up. Yet, so many on here go to extraordinary lengths to white knight for JBo and Connor. Can you imagine what those same people would say if JBo played for Wisconsin? Think about it.

Exaggerate much?

Who's white knighting anyone?

Why do you go to such extraordinary lengths to bash Connor and Jbo?

Exactly. I have said For much of this season I’d take cheap shot Davidson over jbo because Davidson was actually backing up his play. Jbo was running his mouth acting like a tough guy and not doing crap for his team most of the year and was exposed once again yesterday. I’m guessing Davidson will do a little better today but we’ll see.

I hope everyone noticed this

In addition to starting a bar fight just because he thought he could because of who he was, as well as the unsportsmanlike act of leaving his shoes at center court at Hilton. I cringed when I read about both of those acts. Both got his ass kicked. One off and one on the court. Time to move on.
You're an idiot.

There are idiots who spend their time posting crap about players who accomplished things that they could only dream about. You are losers, plain and simple. Get a life.i
Idiot would be thinking you can’t criticize anyone because you don’t share their abilities. There is a difference between criticism point at them as people vs players and how they play.
that’s just dumb. What is fran doing coaching guys that play better than he did. How did Phil Jackson coach Jordan.
