Jbo, ulis, joe t

well it's been 13 years and he's never signed any guards fitting your description, but surely this will be the year!!!

Mainly because of the supporting cast he had. Cook, Garza and weezy are all in the nba. They got him easy assists and open looks from the outside. Look what he’s doing without them.
That's the weird thing. He's still getting some wide open looks. He can't hit those either. After Cmac's big night I think he just replaced Cmac as the worst 3pt shooter on the team.

Whether Joe T has missed a couple shots or not, he’s by far the best pg Iowa has. The JBo stuff goes without saying, but Ulis should not be getting two ot’s worth of time at point over him.
Watch the game again! There is a reason JT doesn’t play at the end of the games. He moves so fast and plays off the script that others get caught off position on offense. He gets caught on the wrong guys on defensive plays.
Read Fran’s comments after the Purdue game. He said, it’s about what we can do, not what I can do (paraphrasing). That comment was about JT.
My only criticism of Fran is that he keeps starting him.
Love the kid’s efforts, but not his game… never did!

I’m probably wrong but I think Fran didn’t like the JoeT matchup against Penn States bigger guards . I think they posted him up a few times, Ullis has better length

Bohannon’s return on investment this year is in the crapper. Fran’s playing him big minutes and in crucial moments and he’s not getting it done. Just reset with JoeT, Ulis, Perkins, and Sandfort and move forward.
Its incredibly simple.

This rebuilding season would be acceptable if the young guys were gaining experience and improving but instead we get JBo playing the majority of every game and accomplishing nothing.

As opposed to JBo? He got posted up and and abused on defense and then brought nothing on offense. Absolutely ridiculous to have him in there instead of Joe T.

Watch the game again, with your eyes glued on JT, and see how many mistakes he makes.
At least Jbo is our first in many categories, assists, free throws, 3 points made ... We have won a lot of games with him as our PG. How many memorable moments/ stats can you offer for JT?
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to sound critical of the kid, he’s doing the best he can, but I hope he transfers to a mid major school to have a memorable senior season.

Fran had Zach McCabe always playing the final critical minutes and that never worked out either. He's simply a below average coach and his abysmal record in close games proves it.

Joe T has more game winners this year.

Please stop living in the past and come to the present season where JBo being limited after 2 hip surgeries lacks the quickness to guard Big Ten guards. Additionally, the present where JBo is averaging 29% from the field and 27% from three point range on offense and can't get open.

Joe T shoots 44% from the field and 33% from three point range all while playing very good defense. He also averages 4.44 assists per game compared with JBo's 1.11.

Perhaps it is you that should rewatch the games. It's crystal clear.

This argument is dog crap, saying JBO is better option because of what he did 3 years ago. The guy played 35 minutes, scored two, zero rebounds, jacked a half court brick on a fast break and ball hogged for an air ball at end of regulation.

I thought Ulis played pretty well down the stretch and OTs. Handled very well, made his FTs, solid on D, but man he’s gotta figure out how to finish. He plays more calm than Joe, and that’s why he sees crunch time. Can only get better let’s hope.

Delusional

Iowa won a lot of games in spite of JBO because his career has overlapped with a lot of the best offensive players in iowa history.

Toussaint isn’t a great pg but he's no where near the liability jbo is on either end.

Yeah, he really struggles to finish, its odd because everything else he does is pretty solid.

Good point. We also are missing an opportunity to get our two young big guys some experience. We are going to have no experience in the post next year unless Fran goes portal again. Not saying we need a lot of minutes for them but 3-5 a game seems doable.

JBo's air ball pass at the end of regulation was clutch!
Are you sure it was a shot? Ok that's a stretch, but it turned out like a pass and it did turn out our way. Unfortunately we didn't capitalize on our good fortune.
The NIT seems like Iowa's best bet this year. A good send off for the Murray bothers...

Guard play will be the downfall of this team… again. While defense in our backcourt has improved (or at least it would if Bohannon wasn’t logging 30 minutes per game), we haven’t had a versatile scorer in the backcourt since Devyn Marble. Of course, when when crunch time hits, it’s Ulis dribbling around and taking a BS shot or Bohannon tossing up a prayer

It doesn’t take some great basketball mind to ideate getting the ball to your future NBA player… but not Iowa. We go multiple possessions at a time when it matters most where Keegan doesn’t even touch the ball
