That phrase has to be the corniest, overused phrase in Iowa sports announcing since Frosty Mitchell's, "Up, out of the toaster comes...", from back in the day.

Coming soon from BTN's Jim Gibbons - Nightmare on Elm Street IX: Freddy Krueger Brings His Hips to the Party.

Gibbon's current most favorite comment seems to be in reference to the bottom man coming up: "He's got to split his hands." or other variations of the same thought including, "He's got his hands split." even when it is through no effort of the bottom man.
I think he tries to overcome his bias regarding Iowa, but it keeps seeping out through little comments.

I don't remember Frosty saying that, trouble is I know he said something else rather corny, but I can't remember it!! Oh well, maybe it'll surface soon.

Ah, yes, "in the valley of the giants."

My favorite (and I mean that in a sarcastic way) Frosty signature line was telling the audience what each girl's dad did for a living back home when doing the girls basketball tourney.

Frosty... "And the super soph will shoot two free throws. Her daddy runs the co-op back in Maynard, and you can bet he is proud of his little girl today."

Bet nobody else remembers Tait Cummins saying "they're dancing in the streets in (name a small town) tonight.
