Cael needs a new challenge and wants the sport to grow..let Cody take the reins in Happy Valley.
Would be great to have Zadick at Iowa as well.
How come no love for Slay? Any reasons?
I'd be ok with Slay being hired at Penn to compete with Cael. I'd say we should grab him, but I don't think he's a big fan of Iowa.
No surprise. Everyone knew Burnett was temporary, but I didn't think it would be this soon. I figured he would complete this Olympic cycle. I don't know if the new hire starts immediately or not. I doubt Terry even applies for the job. My short list of possible candidates, some of which may not have interest. I am just guessing.

I don't have a whole lot of inside info normally but I posted this about two weeks ago. It will be Terry or Kenny Monday. They'd like to retain Zadick and Slay but neither will be offered the job.
Makes you wonder if the Metcalf match at the Pan Am Games was a powerful influence on his decision. The interviews from Metcalf and Burnett were pretty compelling! Just a thought as I suspected he would do this through the Olympic year.
Don't have a link, but Burnett basically said that the bad call that occurred in Metcalf's match was exactly the types of things that made him stop coaching in the first place. Seemed like he alluded to politics and questionable things behind the scenes.
The third that could be the wild card would be Kolat but that interest might only be one sided.
Not hating on Slay, but everyone whom I've spoken with who has trained at the OTC LOVES Bill Zadick. Can't say the same for Slay.. not so much a slight against him as it is a compliment for Zadick.
There are some that are very close to slay. Slay is very religious and so are a lot of current/post wrestlers he has coached. He has some very strong relationships out there. He's a very nice guy and great coach. I just don't think he's the man for the job. I think Bill is great right where he's at now. This is Terry's burning passion. He wants it more than anything but can he make it happen?
I think it would be best for USA Wrestling AND Terry if he were to take the job.
And Iowa does need to make some changes in coaching strategy, and/or maybe personnel, imo.

Pretty sure that Burnett is completing the Olympic cycle. That's been the plan the whole time since Zeke left. I think they're just trying to get a jump on the process.
Zadick has never been the top guy. It's a very different job to be the top guy. I don't think having his first gig be the Olympic coach would be smart. For anyone.
So when is the Mongolia qualifier for 65 kg? Before or after the trials? Anyone know?

May 6-8, second "last chance" qualifier -- Istanbul, Turkey
As the Olympic trials are April 8, I assume it's the burden of the winner of the trials to try to qualify the weight for the Olympics.
